7 Common Mistakes You Probably Make In The Bathroom - Health
The toilet is one of the most used part but least taken care of. Bathroom etiquette is essential for a healthy living space so here are 7 common mistakes you probably make in the bathroom.
There are some of the things you thought you were doing right but trust me after going through this list, you'll be surprised. 1. Flushing the toilet while the lid is up According to Charles Gerba, a microbiologist from the University of Arizona, Fecal matter and urine can fly as far as six feet away from the toilet bowl during each flush. Close the lid before you flush to keep those gross particles in your toilet and out of the air. 2. Sitting on the toilet seat too long People tend to use their toilet time to books, magazines or scroll through social media. Sitting on the ceramic throne for too long can cause hemorrhoids because the seated position places a lot of pressure on the veins in your lower rectum which can swell or bulge. The most common symptom of hemorrhoids is rectal bleeding but you may experience itchiness or discomfort around the rectal area. This is just a quick reminder that the toilet isn’t the place for personal time. 3. Keeping your toothbrush too close to the toilet Toothbrushes should be kept about four feet away from the toilet because, as noted earlier fecal matter and urine can fly from the toilet bowl when you flush and live the lid open. It should not also be placed on the sink due to splashes from soap and dirty water. 4. Not washing your hands long enough According to the CDC, all it takes is twenty seconds to give your hands a proper scrubbing with soap and water. 95 percent of people don’t wash their hands long enough to effectively kill germs based on a Michigan state university study with the average hand-washing time of only six seconds. 5. Forgetting to clean your toothbrush Researchers have found that about 10million germs of icky bacteria like E.coli on the average toothbrush. It’s important to rinse your toothbrush well after each use and occasionally soak it in vinegar for about 30 minutes to get rid of any leftover bacteria, making your toothbrush replacements every three months. 6. Overwiping The number one rule of wiping: Less is more. One or two wipes are usually all you need to clean yourself up after using the toilet. But wiping too much can irritate your anus and cause small abrasions that trigger inflammation and itch. If more than one wipe won’t suffice, switch to wet toilet paper or an unscented baby wipe to decrease the irritation and friction from wiping. 7. Placing the toilet brush back into its holder immediately after use Germs and moisture breed and multiply every time you put a toilet brush back into its holder right after each use. Always allow the brush dry completely after you’ve finished cleaning the toilet bowl so you’re not scrubbing the same bacteria back into your toilet the next time you use it. https://www.pulse.ng/lifestyle/beauty-health/7-common-mistakes-you-probably-make-in-the-bathroom-id8704036.html |

Jonah Jang Declares His Senate Seat Vacant From 2019 - Politics
OS — Senator Jonah Jang has opted out of a second term and has declared his Plateau North Senatorial Seat open for a successor.
The immediate political future of the one term senator remains, however, unclear. Senator Jang had lately mooted the idea of running for the 2019 presidential contest on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP but that aspiration has yet to get traction and it remains uncertain if he would pursue the ambition.
At a meeting with PDP stakeholders from the Plateau North Senatorial zone held at WAYE Foundation, Doi, Jos South local government area, Jang disclosed that the Senate seat would be vacant in 2019 and left for people of Plateau North to decide who should represent them in the Red chamber.
Though nocturnal meetings are being held by aspirants for the seat but only the member representing Barkin Ladi/Riyom Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Istifanus Gyang has officially made his intention known to the PDP and his supporters.
Vanguard gathered that others nursing ambition for the seat from the All Progressives Congress, APC include the member representing Jos South/Jos East federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Edward Pwajok, the current Secretary to the Plateau State Government, Rufus Bature, former Chief of Staff during Jang’s administration, Francis Bot and former Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly Hon. Isa Song.
The PDP, Northern Zone Leader, Mr. Chris Hassan, said: “The Senator called the meeting to meet with all of us from the zone. He made known his intention not to re-contest the Senatorial seat and asked us as a Party to work together and ensure unity.
“We are giving a level playing ground to all the aspirants; there will be nothing like the issue of zoning. Zoning is not going to be discussed; we are leaving everything open for all interested people to contest.
What the Senator asked was that we should quickly convene a meeting of all PDP stakeholders in the northern zone and deliberate on the seat but as a Party, we are leaving the seat open to whosoever is qualified to go and contest.
“He did not categorically declare his intention to contest the presidential seat but in a fortnight from now, he will do the formal declaration for the Presidential seat.”

Tourist police plan to visit 1,400 Nigerians in Thailand next week to check that they have no connection with criminal activities, deputy tourist police chief Pol Maj Gen Surachet Hakpal said on Friday, August 10.
He said the measure is necessary for preventing criminals from coming to use Thailand as a base for illegal activities.
Seventy-two foreigners including Nigerians, were arrested on Thursday for allegedly overstaying their visa and other charges after tourist police and other agencies searched 75 locations across Thailand.
Surachet also urged members of the public to call the Tourist Police Bureau 1155 hotline if they detect foreigners involved in suspicious activities.
Speaking during a press conference at Chana Songkram police station to announce the result of the 20th “X-ray Outlaw Foreigner” Operation, Surachet, said 11 foreigners were arrested for allegedly overstaying their visa and 46 for entering the kingdom illegally. He added that 15 other foreigners were arrested on other charges.
He said 34 similar operations have been carried out so far and 4,159 targeted areas have been searched, netting 1,904 foreigners.
He said more than 2,000 foreigners have been blacklisted as persona non-grata.
In the latest operation, police checked three international schools, two English language schools and 13 normal schools as well as 57 other areas.
