ASUU joins NLC and TUC, declares nationwide strike

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has joined the nationwide indefinite strike declared by the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC).

 

ASUU on Monday, Nov. 13, directed its members to join the strike starting from midnight of the same day.

Brazilian footballer, Dani Alves is facing up to 12 years in prison for an alleged se*ual assault at a Barcelona nightclub, with his trial set for between October and November this year.

 

Alves, 40, has been in custody at Brians 2 since January 20 after a 23-year-old woman alleged he had raped her in a toilet at the well-known Sutton club.

Mo Salah signs a new three-year contract worth nearly ?400,000-a-week to become the best paid player in the club

Liverpool star, Mohamed Salah has committed his future by signing the biggest deal in the club's history.

 

Salah, 30, had entered the final 12 months of his current contract, which were signed in July 2018, but after months of negotiations between the club and player, they have an agreement that will see him remain at Liverpool until June 2025 on £400,000 per week salary.

 

Salah, one of the best purchases the club has ever made, is one of the all-time top 10 scorers in Liverpool's history.


He has scored 156 goals in 254 appearances, as well as helped guide the team to last season's FA Cup and Carabao Cup triumphs.

The marriage of Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel has ended, the Daily Mail reports.

Tuchel’s wife, Sissi, began divorce proceedings last week.

It is understood that close friends claim that “all avenues are exhausted” as it concerns a possible reconciliation.

“Sissi and Thomas have tried to avoid splitting but in the end there was no other way.

“It is very sad and now it is all about making sure their daughters are the top priority. Papers were lodged last week to get the divorce under way,” a source said.

Just 10 months ago, Sissi was seen running across the pitch at Porto’s Estadio do Dragao, before jumping into her husband’s arms after Chelsea beat Manchester City 1-0 in the Champions League final.

Tuchel, who reportedly earns £7million a year at Stamford Bridge, now faces a multi-million-pound divorce deal.

His wife gave up her job at the German newspaper, Süddeutsche Zeitung to bring up their family, so may be entitled to a slice of his future earnings, as well as up to half of his current fortune.

Ivorian football legend, Yaya Toure has revealed he still hasn't heard from his former boss Pep Guardiola since he tendered an apology for comments he made about his ability to work with Africans four years ago. 

 

Toure had two spells working under Guardiola during his trophy-laden career, winning the Champions League together at Barcelona before reuniting at Manchester City in the Premier League. 

 

Toure's last season at the Etihad ended in a terrible way as he made just one start in the final home game of the season.

American Actor, Will Smith, has apologized to comedian Chris Rock for assaulting him at the Oscars on Sunday March 27.

 

Will Smith had stormed the Oscars stage to hit Chris Rock after the presenter made a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith's haircut.

Rock, a comedian, compared Jada Pinkett Smith's hair to that of G. I. Jane's, who has a shaved head. 

 

Pinkett Smith suffers from hair loss condition alopecia. Pinkett Smith has been grappling with hair loss since revealing her alopecia diagnosis in 2018. 

 

Following reactions after the slapping incident with most criticising Smith for being violent, he has now apologized. The King Richard actor said his "behaviour was unacceptable and inexcusable" as he was out of line. He added that he is embarrassed and his actions were not indicative of the man he wants to be.

Barcelona president, Joan Laporta has stated that the club has no interest in re-signing Lionel Messi after allowing the 34-year-old to join Paris Saint-Germain last summer. 

 

The seven-time Ballon d'Or winner joined PSG after Barcelona released a bombshell statement stating that he would be leaving the club due to financial restrictions placed upon them by LaLiga amid their colossal debts.  

 

However, Messi has been linked with a return to Barcelona after just one season because he is reportedly 'unhappy' with the Ligue 1 side and disappointed about their Champions League exit.

Christian Pulisic has become the latest player to complain about life under Thomas Tuchel after Romelu Lukaku's controversial interview.


The £58million American winger has struggled with a regular starting place and injuries at Stamford Bridge under Thomas Tuchel since his arrival at the club in 2019.

Former Chelsea star, Pedro has left Roma in order to join fierce rivals, Lazio, on a free transfer after just one season.

 

The former Spain International was surplus to requirements by new Roma boss José Mourinho, who was appointed in May. The Portuguese coach froze the ex-Barcelona man out of the first team and did not include him as one of his players for preseason.
