HTC is making one last attempt for survival by unleashing the HTC U12 Life, a very pretty smartphone which comes loaded with latest features and the fact it doesn’t come with the display notch makes me fall in love with it more because it exudes uniqueness. HTC threw in everything it’s got into this product and I have every reason to believe this will be the launchpad that will propel the company into success which it desperately needs at the moment.

This pretty smartphone was released at the IFA 2018 in Berlin, Germany along with a lot of really cool tech products and it’s specs are very impressive and the U12 Life is all purple or blue eye-candy with a partial glass pane on the back that mimics the backing on Google’s flagship phone of 2017, the Pixel 2 which was released on 19th October 2017. Without wasting much time let’s look at the specs of this beauty.

HTC U12 Life display, design and software

In the software department, it comes with Android 8.1 Oreo which will also support upgrade to Android 9.0 Pie. The design is okay, slim bezels, rear mounted fingerprint and a glossy glass cover at the back.

HTC U12 Life camera and processor

Pastor Elis Apologizes For Groping Ariana Grande's Boobs At Aretha's Funeral - Religion

Knificent.blogspot.com

Charles H. Ellis III, the bishop who officiated Aretha Franklin’s funeral, apologized, on Friday, to Ariana Grande for how he touched her onstage and a joke he made about her name.

After Grande’s performance, Ellis had brought her to the podium, where he cracked a joke about her name sounding like a Taco Bell menu item and awkwardly greeted her on stage.

Images of the moment showed Ellis’ hand holding Grande well above her waist, with his fingers pressing against one side of her chest.
The preacher apologized in an interview with The Associated Press at the cemetery where Franklin was interred late Friday.
He said“It would never be my intention to touch any woman’s breast. … I don’t know I guess I put my arm around her. Maybe I crossed the border, maybe I was too friendly or familiar but again, I apologize.I personally and sincerely apologize to Ariana and to her fans and to the whole Hispanic community. When you’re doing a program for nine hours you try to keep it lively, you try to insert some jokes here and there,” he said.

Suspect Dies In Abakaliki Police DPO's Office (pic) - Crime

A policewoman intervened in a matter involving some young boys playing football in the neighbourhood which has now turned out to be a murder case.
Obinna Odogwu, Abakaliki

A 55-year-old man, Mr Inya Aluu Israel, has allegedly slumped and died inside a Divisional Police Officer’s office located at Kpirikpiri axis of Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital.

At the moment, men and officers of the police command serving at the division are making concerted efforts to come out with explanations, which would be acceptable to the deceased’s family on what actually happened to their father.

But the greater trouble lies on the table of a policewoman who allegedly intervened in a hitherto minor matter involving some young boys playing football in the neighbourhood which has now turned out to be a murder case.

Genesis of the matter

It all started at Nri Street in Abakaliki when some children of varying ages were playing football in their neighbourhood. In the course of the outdoor activity, their football landed in the premises of nearby Assemblies of God Church located at No. 4 of the said street. The deceased and his family live at No. 2 on the street.

But when they accosted the security man guarding the facility to release the ball to them, he allegedly refused.

A son to the deceased, Inya Aluu Ebenezer, who was one of the football players, gave Saturday Sun a personal account of the incident.

“We were playing football in the neighbourhood and the ball landed in the premises of the Assemblies of God Church located at No. 4 Nri Street. So, we went to the gateman and begged him to give us the ball. He refused and started insulting us. So, we exchanged words with him.

“The pastor’s daughter came out and asked us what was happening. We told her that our ball entered the church premises and that she should help us with the ball. She told us to come back later and collect the ball.

“We left. After sometime we went back to the church and asked the gateman for the ball and he started exchanging words with us again. The senior pastor came out and made comments that didn’t help the situation.

“Then I exchanged words with him. His children and some members of the church started attacking us. They asked us to go back to our house so that the situation would calm down.

“So, I went back to my house. I was about taking my bath when two security men from a private firm (name withheld) came and told me to go and apologize to the pastor so that peace would reign. I insisted that I was not going anywhere. But later, I came down because they threatened that they would go and call the military if we don’t resolve the matter. So, I followed them to the church.

“A member of the church who is a policewoman who is not even on duty; she’s on maternity leave, came with a handcuff to handcuff us but we protested it. She did not give us any reason. They locked the gate of the church and started beating us”, he narrated.

The 18-year-old boy who is a 200L student in the Department of Criminology and Security Studies, Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu Alike Ikwo (AEFUNAI) said that the noise of the commotion drew the attention of his dad who was at home at the time.

“So, my dad came from the house and started knocking on the gate. He told them they should take us to the police station. At first, they insisted that they would not take us to the station; that they would deal with us in the church but when they saw that a crowd was already gathering, the policewoman took us to the station. My dad went to the station with us.”

Tragedy struck

Ebenezer alleged that the last he heard from his dad was when he was taken into the DPO’s office. “When we reached the station, she locked us behind the counter and started beating me. Then, they asked my dad to follow them to a room. So, my dad followed them together with the Assemblies of God Church people to the room.

“The next thing they did was that they came and released us and asked us to go and carry our father’s body. That room is said to be the Divisional Police Officer’s office. All of them left the corpse. My friend and I took the body to FETHA where two doctors confirmed that he was dead.

While we were heading to the hospital, he was foaming from his mouth. My father was 100 percent okay before this incident happened. I suspect that he was manhandled inside the DPO’s office because before we left the church, the policewoman also attacked him. She slapped him”, he narrated.

Wife of the deceased man, Mrs Inya Ngozi, corroborated her son’s account but insisted that the police, especially the policewoman, have some questions to answer. “When they took my husband into the DPO’s office, they took my son and the other boy inside another room instead of taking all of them to the DPO’s office. Few minutes later, they called my son and the other boy to come and carry their daddy. He died inside the DPO’s office.

“As children which they are, they carried him to the hospital. They were still in Keke NAPEP when I reached the hospital. I saw my husband lying down with foams coming out of his mouth. When a doctor came out and checked, he confirmed him dead”, she said.

Police react

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, ASP Loveth Odah, confirmed the incident. She however absolved the police of being responsible for the man’s sudden death even as she said that investigation has commenced.

“On 29th of August 2018, the DPO of Kpirikpiri division, said that there was a call from the Assemblies of God Church at Nri Street, Kpirikpiri that children were playing football and they played into the church premises.

“So the security officer whose name I do not know seized the ball because he said that it was a regular thing which he said disturbs the occupants during the church hour.

“So, yesterday unfortunately the ball entered there and the security officers seized it. According to them, children started throwing stones on top of the zinc of the church. Along the line, the security officer decided to open the door to see who was doing it.

“He saw the two children who were doing it. He dragged them into the premises and called the policewoman who had handled their matter before. The policewoman was actually on maternity leave. She was passing through the church to go and fill her gas cylinder. According to her, she parked her bike and entered to see what was happening.

“The security man opened the door for her and the access paved a way for their father to enter with her into the church premises. They were all taking the case as children’s play; that’s according to the policewoman.

“But the father of the children insisted that since he has dragged the children inside, by so doing, illegally detaining them, the police must be aware of it. The policewoman assisted them to the police station and went her own way because she was not on official duty.

“According to the DPO Kpirikpiri, he said that he was handling a matter involving other parties with a DSS officer in his office, then he was alerted about the incident and he was called to listen to them.

“He said that as soon as he came out, he saw somebody telling the man that he was breathing too high; ‘what’s happening to you?’ For them to rush and attend to the man, he slumped.

They later stopped a tricycle and wanted to take the man to a clinic but the children insisted that they will go to FETHA insisting that that is where the man has a card. On their way to FETHA of the man dropped dead. He was confirmed dead by a doctor. Nobody touched the man.

“Please let’s wait for the autopsy to come out and let’s see if the man died of beating by anybody or any other thing or the sickness in him which he had earlier before this incident. But it’s an unfortunate incident”, the PPRO said.

Attempts to speak with the church authority failed as no official was willing to speak with the media on the matter.

Workers Kill 28-year-old Boss In Ogun State (Photo) - Crime -

Knificent.blogspot.com

A 28 year old farmer, Adeleke Adewusi, has been hacked to death allegedly by his workers at his farm in Alapa community in the state on Monday August 26th.

According to reports, the two accused workers were allegedly hired by a resident of the community identified simply as Ola Sheu to kill their boss whom he was having a running battle with.

It was learnt that the deceased was applying pesticides on his cocoa farm, said to be about one acre, when one of the workers, Femi, suddenly descended on him with a machete. In an attempt to get help for the deep cut he sustained, Adeleke reportedly ran to the second worker identified as Kehinde who also allegedly brought out a machete and joined in the attack. The suspects then fled the scene after they confirmed him dead.

A relative of the deceased, Bisola Adewusi, said members of the vigilante group in the area, apprehended one of the workers while he was running away from the scene with bloodstains on his shirt.

“When the vigilantes queried him about the bloodstains, he said it was as a result of an animal he killed in the bush. They asked for the animal, but he could not present it. The vigilantes became suspicious and probed him further. That was when he opened up. He told them that Ola Sheu contracted him and Kehinde to kill Adeleke. He was applying pesticides on his farm when they attacked him with machetes.
The case was reported to the police at the Owode division. Femi led the vigilantes and the police to arrest Ola Sheu and Kehinde. The third fourth suspect is still on the run. We want the police to handle this case seriously. A breadwinner and promising person has been killed prematurely. He must get justice.”

The grieving father of the deceased, Sheriffdeen Adewusi, said that Femi, Kehinde and Ola Sheu had visited him on his own farm possibly to cover up any track that could link them to the crime.
“My son and I were at Alapa that morning. I was planting cocoa when he passed by and went to apply pesticides on his farm some metres away from mine. After a while, Ola Sheu came to meet me. He greeted me and said he would need some cocoa seeds for planting. I promised to give him whenever he was ready.

Two hours after he left and headed towards Alapa town, Kehinde and Femi who worked for my son came and met me on the farm. They asked me to give them some ripe palm fruits. I told them to climb the tree and pluck as many as they wanted. They left afterwards unknown to me that they were plotting to kill my son.”
He said he was on his way home when he was informed that his son had been killed
“They hid his corpse somewhere on the farm.

Femi, who was caught by the vigilantes, mentioned Ola Sheu as the mastermind. Ola Sheu wanted to take over the farm. The police have arrested him and the workers. They are still searching for the fourth suspect who connived with them. Apart from Ola Sheu, some people had been having a running battle with my son over the farm. They said it belonged to them. My son must not die in vain. He was very hard working. We want justice'' he said
The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP  Abimbola Oyeyemi, is yet to confirm the incident.
