QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS FOR ACADEMIC POSITIONS


Professor
Interested applicants must possess a Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science (B.A/B.Sc.) with a minimum of Second Class Upper Division, and Master of Arts/Master of Science (MA/M.Sc.) and a Doctor of Philosophy Ph.D, with at least Twelve (12) years of continuous Teaching and Research at the University level.

Applicants must be able to show evidence of scholarship and track record of outstanding research with scholarly peer-reviewed publications in chosen fields of specialty and expertise.

So also, these outstanding research and scholarly publications and or patent invention and design should have appeared in print, and there must be an identifiable contribution to knowledge in the field of specialization.

Preference will be given to qualified candidates whose qualifications must be registered with a Professional Body, where applicable.

To be appointable, the ideal candidates will be expected to demonstrate evidence of Academic Leadership, research ability to supervise Post Graduate student supervision in the field, capacity to develop the field/discipline in the department, and skills for collaborative and multidisciplinary research.

(b)               Associate Professor/Reader
Interested applicants must possess a Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science (B.A./B.Sc.) with a minimum of Second Class Upper Division, Master of Arts/Master of Science (MA/M.Sc.) and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D), with at least Ten (10) years of continuous Teaching and Research at the University level.

Applicants must be able to show evidence of scholarship and track record of outstanding research with Scholarly Publications in peer-reviewed internationally rated journals/outlets.

So also, these outstanding research and scholarly publications and or patent invention and design should have appeared in print, and there must be an identifiable contribution to knowledge in the field of specialization.

Preference will be given to qualified candidates whose qualifications must be registered with a Professional Body, where applicable.

To be appointable interested applicants must possess a minimum of Second Class in Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science (B.A/B.Sc.), Master of Arts/Master of Science, (M.A/M.Sc.) and a Doctor of Philosophy, Ph.D from a recognized University with at least Eight ( years of Teaching Research at the University level. Candidates must show evidence of a minimum of Twelve (12) Scholarly Publications in peer-reviewed internationally rated journals/outlets and an identifiable contribution to knowledge in field of specialization. The applicant must be able to demonstrate potentials for academic leadership in teaching and research.

(d)               Lecturer I
Interested Applicants must possess a minimum of Second Class in Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science (B.A/B.Sc.), Master of Arts/Master of Science, (M.A/M.Sc.) and a Doctor of Philosophy, (Ph.D) from a recognized University with at least Five (5) years of Teaching and Research at the University level.

To be appointable, candidates must show evidence of a minimum of Six

(6) scholarly publications in peer-reviewed internationally rated reputable journals/outlets and must be able to demonstrate potentials for academic leadership.

(e)                Lecturer II
Interested Applicants must possess a minimum of Second Class in Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science (B.A/B.Sc.), Master of Arts/Master of Science (M.A/M.Sc.) and a Doctor of Philosophy, (Ph.D) from a recognized University with at least Four (4) years of Teaching and Research at the University level.

To be appointable, candidates must show evidence of a minimum of Five

Registrar

The Registrar shall be the Chief Administrative Officer of the University and shall be responsible to the Vice-chancellor for the day-to-day running of the University. He shall also be the Secretary to the Governing Council, Senate, Congregation and Convocation.

The ideal applicant must possess a minimum of Second Class in Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science (B.A/B.Sc.) and a Master of Arts/Master of Science, (M.A/M.Sc.) from a recognized University with at least 14 years of relevant post- graduation experience in University administration or a similar institution, and should not be below the rank of Deputy Registrar shall be between the ages of 45-60 years. Possession of a higher degree and membership of recognized professional bodies such as CIPM, NIM, and ANUPA will be an advantage.

The Bursar shall be the Chief Finance Officer of the University, and shall be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day administration and control of the financial affairs of the University.

The ideal applicants must possess a minimum of Second Class in Bachelor   of Science in Accounting. The candidates must  have  Professional Accounting Qualification i.e. ICAN/ANAN/ACA/CAN/ACCA/ACMA with at least 14 years relevant experience in addition the ideal applicants must be able to demonstrate ability to formulate and implement  financial policies and produce manual of University Financial procedures.

Senior Internal Auditor
Applicants must possess a minimum of Second Class in Bachelor of Science in Accounting. The candidates must have at least 6 years post qualification cognate experience plus a final part certificate of a recognized accounting

Two occupants of a Toyota Highlander SUV, Fidelis Omoruyi and his daughter, Omon, cheated death on Wednesday, as a tyre-laden truck crushed their vehicle in Benin, Edo State.

The accident which occurred along the Akpakpava Road, by First East Circular Junction, was attributed to a bump at the middle of the Road.

Many at the scene of the accident described the survival of the occupants of the SUV as miraculous. Omoruyi said they stopped at a transport firm by the junction to deliver a parcel when they suddenly heard a loud noise as the truck crashed into their vehicle.

An eyewitness, Osasu, condemned the poor attitude of the agency responsible for the maintenance of roads in Benin, saying that the bump which allegedly caused the accident has caused many others

Bukola Saraki, FEMA react to the recent earth tremors rocking Abuja

Residents in parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja have been experiencing earth tremor in the past few days. The areas where the earth tremor was pronounced were Mpape and parts of Maitama districts.

The FCT Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has attributed the cause of the tremor to seismic movement within the earth. Director General, FEMA, Abbas G. Idriss, said in a statement on Thursday that the tremor was caused by sudden breaks along a fault line, resulting in sudden release of energy that makes the ground shake.

“We have been inundated with distress calls in our watch room as a result of Earth shaking happening around Mpape and parts of Maitama districts of the FCT. While appreciating the calls from the public, the FCT Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) wishes to say that the possible cause of the earth shaking might be as a result of earth tremor. It is also a sign of seismic movement within the earth, caused by sudden breaks along a fault line, which results in sudden release of energy that makes the ground shake,” Idriss said.  

Senate President Bukola Saraki also said, 'we have all been feeling the earth tremors in Abuja and surrounding areas over the last 48 hours. I know that many people are scared, but please, remain calm and vigilant. At this time, it is important that NEMA, FCT Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and all emergency services be on high alert to prevent the loss of lives and property'.

Controversial rapper, Azealia Banks is still not done beefing singer K Michelle over the cancelation of their 2015 joint tour.

Back in 2015, the pair were scheduled to run a joint tour from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15 with shows in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Atlanta, but Banks later announced that she got an email from Michelle's team, saying she was now "unavailable." 

Following the cancelation, the rapper angrily called her out on Twitter and accused her of getting illegal butt shots in hotel rooms and being a "fake Christian h**."

A motorcycle rider , Ubong Ime, took incest to a new height when he professed love to his daughter whom he allegedly raped and impregnated .

PUNCH Metro gathered that the incident happened in the Iju area of Lagos State.
Our correspondent learnt that the 15- year - old victim lived with her mother in Uyo until in 2015 when the father , who had remarried , brought her to Lagos .

Ime, who was arrested by policemen from the Iju Police Station , said he was in love with the victim , adding that he slept with her twice .

He said , “ Sometime in June 2018 , my wife informed me that my daughter was pregnant after which we both called her to ask who was responsible for the pregnancy.

She did not say anything , but I knew that I was the one who impregnated her and it happened in June. I fell in love with her and had sex with her two times. ”

The victim , however, said her father first raped her on a day her stepmother stopped her from going to school after accusing her of stealing.

She said her father , who pretended to be punishing her , had sex with her .

She said , “ My stepmother always accused me of stealing her money and most times she beat me up . Sometime in June , my stepmother accused me of stealing her N 200 and because of that, she said I should not go to school.

“ While I was doing the house chores , my daddy brought out a wire and started beating me . As he was beating me , he ordered me to sit on the bed and remove my pants . 

I initially refused , but as he continued beating me , I obeyed him and he raped me . As I was shouting, one of my neighbours came to knock on our door , but he told him that he was punishing me .

“ After the sex, he told me that I should not tell anybody . He was the one that washed the clothes I was supposed to wash that day while I slept. After some time , I woke up and took my bath. I did not tell my stepmother anything.

“Then in July 2018 , before we started our examination , my stepmother said I should not go to school . My dad went out in the morning and came back in the afternoon.

As of then, I was sleeping on the bed . I suddenly noticed that someone laid on me . Before I knew it , he had sex with me again , making it twice . He still warned me not to tell anybody what happened between us . ”

The victim said when she missed her period in July , her stepmother asked her if she had sex with anyone , but she denied it.

She said she confessed to her stepmother when it was confirmed that she was two months pregnant.

“When my stepmother reported to my daddy that I looked pregnant , he said I should lie to her that I was raped by someone in a hotel. My stepmother continued disturbing me and made me do a pregnancy test . She told me that I was two months ’ pregnant.

“ When everybody on the street became aware that I was pregnant, I decided to tell my stepmother the truth . 

My daddy was the first man that had sex with me . No other person had done it with me before or after him , ” she said .

The victim ’ s half - brother, David, said he had caught his father many times having sex with his sister.

The 12- year - old said , “ There was a day that I came back from school and I met daddy on top of her . Daddy used to have sex with her even in the night if our mummy is not at home . I used to see them together on our bed if our mummy is not at home . ”

Ime was arraigned before an Ogba Magistrates ’ Court on one count of defilement.

The police prosecutor , Inspector John Christopher , said the offence contravened Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, Nigeria , 2015 .

The charge read in part, “ That you , Ubong Ime, in June 2018 , at about 12 pm on Olushina Street, Isale Haruna , Obawole , Lagos State , in the Ikeja Magisterial District , did defile your daughter (name withheld ) aged 15… . ”

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge .

The presiding magistrate , P. E. Nwaka , remanded the suspect in custody .
The case was adjourned till October 3 , 2018.
