More people have access to mobile phones than toilet facilities in Nigeria, UNICEF’s Chief of Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Zaid Jurji, has said.
Speaking yesterday at a two-day media dialogue on European Union (EU) Niger Delta Water Project in Port Harcourt, River State, Zaid said it is important for Nigeria triple her investment in water sanitation and hygiene to achieve the SDG water and sanitation target of 2030.
Quoting the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) report released in January 2018, Zaid said 140 million Nigerians have access to telephone facilities while only 97 million have access to toilets facilities. He added that though people need cell phone because it has improved a lot in the area of communication, hygiene is most important to environmental and human health.
Zaid also said Nigeria remains number one country in Africa in the practise of Open Defecation, adding that investment in WASH is profitable for all. “The real cost of Open Defecation in Nigeria are disease and death, stunting, wasting, and malnutrition, loss of dignity, privacy and security, reduced school attendance, productivity and loss of GDP,” he said.
He further said N234 billion is needed from the government for the realisation of Open Defecation Free zone in Nigeria while adding that poor government and counterpart funding has been threatening WASH projects across the country.

.Justin Bieber’s Mom Pattie Tweets ‘LeaveIt In The Past’: Fans Are Sure She’s TalkingAbout Selena Gomez
Whoa, did Justin Bieber’s mom just subtweet Selena Gomez? Fans are thinking so after her ominous Sept. 17 tweet. See the fan theories, here!
Mom has been coming in hot with the cryptic tweets! Justin Bieber’smom Pattie Mallette, 43, tweeted another ambiguous message after her 24-year-old son legally married Hailey Baldwin, 21, in a Sept. 13 courthouse wedding, according to two reports. “Leave it in the past. Buh bye,” Pattie tweeted on Sept. 17. Many fans think it’s a message to Justin’s on and off-again girlfriend from 2011 to 2018, Selena Gomez, 26!
One unhappy fan replied to Pattie, “I mean I get that Justin was Selena first love but if we get this whole shading thing this year when he’s with hailey now my mood will be Justin’s : serious?” Others were happy with Pattie’s sentiments, with one fan replying with a GIF of Hailey giving a thumbs up and another tweeting back, “Just look at how Justin loves Hailey. Pattie is happy for them. Selena’s nowhere in the picture.” Meanwhile, a few fans think mama might’ve been talking about her own dramas, thank you very much! “Sorry for the kids’ comments, Pattie. They don’t understand that the world doesn’t revolve around Selena or Jelena and that you have a life on your own. Love you, mom,” a fan tweeted. Pattie’s mom might’ve agreed with this comment, because she later tweeted, “Y’all read WAY too much into everything. Lol. #LoveWins.” Interestingly, she used the same hashtag that got fans talking in the first place!
Two days after Justin and Hailey’s reported wedding, she tweeted, “Haters gonna hate. #LoveWins.” And just a day before that, she tweeted, “Love is unconditional.” Understandably, all these references to love are sending fans in a frenzy! We see where Justin gets his secretiveness from now. Luckily, one member in the family doesn’t prefer to speak in riddles. Hailey’s uncle Alec Baldwin, 60, confirmed that her and Justin “went off and got married” at the 2018 Emmys Awards red carpet, while speaking to Access on Sept. 17. But the 30 Rock actor could just be referring to his niece’s reported courthouse nuptials. As we’ve told you on Sept. 14, the two were reported to officially marry abroad as soon as this week, TMZ claimed.
Regardless of Pattie’s tweets, we think Selena’s already “leaving it in the past.” Although news of her ex-boyfriend’s reported wedding made her “emotional,” she “feels like she can FINALLY move on,” an insider EXCLUSIVELY shared with HollywoodLife on Sept. 13.
An "Inside Edition" crew who were filming a documentary on crime in California's San Francisco Bay Area became the victims of a true robbery — resulting in the loss of thousands of dollars worth of equipment.
The media crew who are employees of “Inside Edition”, in an attempt to report on rampant robberies in the area, filmed themselves planting GPS trackers inside items that were placed in a car parked in an area well-known for theft.
The trackers were placed inside of a $250 speaker and a purse just before reporter Lisa Guerrero explains “for [their] last trick,” they also placed video cameras throughout the car in the event the products get stolen.
Sure enough, two people were soon spotted robbing the vehicle; a man was seen in the segment smashing open the car’s back window, pulling out the handbag and throwing it to a woman sitting nearby before removing the speaker.
According to a man whose surveillance footage caught the incident, he said “it all lasted maybe 20 seconds.”
The “Inside Edition” crew then tracked down the speaker and confronted the duo as they walked into a train station.
“You’ve got my speaker right there, you just broke into our car,” Guerrero says, telling the man they’ve “got it on camera.”
Reporters robbed of their equipment while filming documentary on crime
While the man tries to shy away from the cameraperson, and, at one point even pushing the camera down, the reporter informs him “five million people are going to see [him] steal that.” Refusing to give it back, the man says he’s going to call his mother — an offer Guerrero encourages.
“Inside Edition” said the man eventually left the speaker, and they later moved on to track the stolen purse, which was found in a garbage can.
While the crew was interviewing the man captured on camera in the initial theft, their actual crew car was broken into via the “smash and grab” method, leaving “equipment worth thousands of dollars” stolen.
