Court rejects suit seeking registration of lesbian group in Nigeria

Justice Nnamdi Dimg alt='Court rejects suit seeking registration of lesbian group in Nigeria' class='img-responsive text-center' style='margin: auto;'ba of a Federal High Court in Abuja, has dismissed a suit challenging non-registration of a same sex group by the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), for lacking in merit.

The plaintiff, Pamela Adie, in the court papers, said that sometime in October 2017, she founded the “Lesbian Equality and Empowerment Initiatives” whose objective was primarily to advocate for the rights of same sex sexual orientation people but that her quest to register the association at the CAC, through her counsel, Fajenyo Kayode, was declined. She then filed a motion challenging the decision of the commission to decline the registration of the association.

The European Union Delegation to Nigeria and the United States of America have called on Nigeria’s security agencies to avoid actions that could jeopardise the success of next year’s general election. The warning came as campaigns for the polls officially began yesterday.

“We wish to draw particular attention to the fundamental role of the security agencies in providing a safe and secure environment for the Nigerian people to exercise their democratic rights. It is vital that security agencies act, and are seen to act, in an impartial manner that maintains the high standards of professional conduct,” said a joint statement issued in Abuja yesterday.

The Delegation and the United States said they were “gravely concerned over widespread incidents of intimidation, interference and vote buying during the recent gubernatorial elections. We were also perturbed by irregularities and violence during party primaries.” They also expressed desire for “greater participation of women, youth and people living with disabilities.”

The statement was jointly signed by various countries with missions in Nigeria including, France, Germany, United Kingdom, Australia and Austria. Others are: Bulgaria, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Republic of Korea, Romania, Slovakia, Spain and Sweden.

Small details you missed in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald finally brings together the story of Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) and his old professor Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law), as the story journeys back to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry long before it would be violated by the Dark Lord and his army of deatheaters.

The film picks up where Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them left off, as Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) inevitably escapes the clutches of the Ministry of Magic and begins his mission to conquer the world so wizards can roam free without fear of persecution by non-magical people. And since Dumbledore and Grindelwald have a very complicated history with one another — even bound by blood to never fight — the former takes some serious convincing before he'll get involved against his former friend-slash-flame. In the process, there are a ton of Easter eggs planted throughout the picture that only true Harry Potter aficionados are bound to catch. Here's a look at some of the finer details in Fantastic Beasts 2 you might've missed. Spoilers ahead!

How Chelsea could line up after £210m transfer splurge planned by Maurizio Sarri

With the threat of a potential two-year transfer ban looming over Stamford Bridge, Maurizio Sarri is planning to splash £210m on transfers for Chelsea in the January transfer window.
According to a report from The Express, Fifa recommending a four-window transfer ban in relation to the investigation around Chelsea’s signing of under-age foreign players could throw a spanner into Chelsea’s transfer plans.

With a potential ban looking likely the Blues will have to work to secure any targets they would like in January.
The first signing that Chelsea will be eyeing is Juventus’ Alex Sandro for a reported £50m, although the Blues will have to battle with the likes of Manchester United and Manchester City to win the Brazilian’s signature.

Neymar rules out signing for Real Madrid for as long as divisive superstar remains at the club

Paris Saint Germain winger Neymar does not want to play alongside Sergio Ramos, which has raised fresh doubts over his proposed move to Real Madrid.
The 26-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu over the last few months, with club president Florentino Perez keen on bringing in a ‘galactico’ capable of filling the void left by Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure to Juventus during the summer transfer window, as per the Daily Express.
The Brazilian has been in fine form for the French champions this term, scoring 13 goals in 15 games across all competitions while helping Thomas Tuchel’s men storm back to the top of the Ligue 1 table with a 100% record after 13 matches.
