Security operatives and workers of the National Assembly have barricaded all the entrances to the Assembly complex as the workers continue their four-day warning strike. Workers of the National Assembly under the umbrella body of PASAN began their warning strike on Monday December 17th to protest what they called poor working conditions.
The workers barricaded the Assembly gates, preventing any lawmaker from gaining access into the complex.
A statement by the Clerk to the National Assembly Mohammed Sani-Omolori on Tuesday morning said the leadership of the National Assembly has directed the Police and the Department of State Services (DSS) to ensure adequate security within the vicinity of the National Assembly from Tuesday morning to enable members and staff come in and perform their legitimate duties without any hinderance. The directive was passed after a meeting of the joint leadership of the two chambers with the management and representatives of the security agencies.
