Nigerian Customs generates N5.5 billion daily - Comptroller-General, Hameed Ali

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) says its revenue generation has increased to the region of N5.5 billion daily.  

The Comptroller-General (CGC), Hameed Ali, made this known during a working visit to the headquarters of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) in Lagos.  

The CGC, who was represented at the event by the Assistant Comptroller General (ACG) and Customs Coordinator in-charge of Zone A, Kaycee Ekekezie, said the feat was made possible as a result of the automation of customs operations at the ports.

Surveillance video which appears to show Cuba Gooding Jr. touching the thigh and breast of the woman accusing him of groping has been released.

In the video obtained by TMZ,  Gooding and his girlfriend, Claudine De Niro were sitting on a couch in the Magic Hour Rooftop Lounge in NYC, when the accuser came and sat down next to them.  Almost immediately, Gooding reached over Claudine and gently placed his hand on the accuser's left thigh.

JAMB approves 160 as cut-off mark for 2019 admission into public Universities

The 19th Policy Meeting on Admissions to Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria has approved 160 and above as the national minimum cutoff mark for admission into state and federal Universities for the year 2019.

The decision was taken at a meeting held at Bola Babalakin Auditorium, Gbongan, Osun State today Tuesday June 11th. It was also agreed that the minimum UTME score for admission into private Universities should be 140.

120 UTME score was approved for polytechnics while 110 score was approved as the least score for admission into private polytechnic.

Brazilian footballer Neymar faces fresh police questioning over claim he raped a model in Paris hotel room

Brazilian footballer, Neymar, 26, will be questioned for the second time over claims he raped a model in a Paris Hotel room.

The Paris Saint-Germain star has reportedly agreed to fly into São Paulo in Brazil to meet with detectives over the alleged rape attack on 26-year-old model, Najila Trindade Mendes de Souza. 

Speaking to MailOnline, Dr. Juliana Lopes Bussacos, the officer in charge of the investigation, said: ‘He will be treated like any other citizen. He has the same rights as any other man.

‘I have interviewed many men in these situations and everyone is equal and they all have the right to tell their story and produce evidence to back it up.’

Gunmen kill 200-level Plateau Varsity student

Unidentified gunmen, Sunday night, killed one Sheni Kimati, a 25-year-old 200 level student of the department of Geography, Plateau State University, Bokkos. DSP Terna Tyopev, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, who confirmed the incident, yesterday in Jos, said the gunmen attacked the university premises on Sunday night and killed the student.

Lesbian couple are brutalized on London bus after they were seen kissing

Two women were brutally beaten and robbed by a group of men in a homophobic attack on a London bus.

The women - Melania Geymonat and her girlfriend Chris - were on a night bus in Camden, north London, in the early hours of May 30 when they were attacked.

Melania Geymonat took to Facebook to share photo of herself and her girlfriend, Chris, covered in blood, as she narrated the assault.

Geymonat said that at least four men started harassing her and her girlfriend when they saw them kissing on the upper deck of the bus.

Don’t sell land to Miyetti Allah - MASSOB warns South-East monarchs

The Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra has warned monarchs, senators and governors in the South-East not to sell any portion of land in the region to Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association members.  

MASSOB also called on the Federal Government to prevail on Fulani herdsmen bearing unlicensed weapons to surrender them, adding that many of the members of MACBAN were still in possession of AK-47 rifles. National Director of Information of the secessionist group, Sunday Okerefor, also maintained that members of MACBAN had already taken delivery of the N100bn they asked from the Federal Government.  

Okereafor, who spoke in a telephone interview with our correspondent, said members of the cattle breeders association planned to use the money to purchase land in the South-East and other parts of the country to create cattle ranches. He warned that any traditional ruler found to have sold land to Fulani persons would be dealt with, adding that the family of such monarchs would not be spared.
