Goodluck Jonathan: If Not For Saraki, National Assembly Would Have Been In Chaos - Politics
A former Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan, on Wednesday commended Senate President Bukola Saraki for the kind of leadership he has provided for the National Assembly.
Mr Jonathan spoke when the senate president paid him a courtesy visit at his Maitama Office in Abuja.
He said the tremendous support being enjoyed by Mr Saraki from lawmakers in both the Senate and the House of Representatives testifies to his leadership ability.
“Senate President, let me use this opportunity to commend your leadership abilities. Looking at what is happening in the country, if not for your strong leadership, probably the National Assembly would have been in chaos and if the National Assembly is in tatters, then of course, democracy is gone.
“I am quite pleased with the kind of relationship you have with the House of Representatives members and how you have been able to hold the National Assembly together because on the day that the parliament was invaded, though the target was the Senate, the House of Representatives members were as active as, if not more active, than the senators; and that cannot happen by chance.
“What we know is that if there is an assault on the Senate. Then it is also seen as an assault on the House of Representatives. If they (House of Representatives members) don’t believe in you, I don’t think some of them would have taken that kind of risk. That commitment shows that they believe in your leadership”,
he was quoted as saying in a statement by Mr Saraki’s Chief Press Secretary, Sanni Onogu.
Earlier, Mr Saraki said his visit was to pay his respect to the ex-president and also to inform him of his formal return to the fold of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He said that the present realities in the country show that all those that love the country must work together to return the country to the path of growth, fairness, equity and justice.

Kanye West finally apologizes for his "slavery was a choice" comments in new interview (video)
Kanye West has finally issued an apology after he angered black people by saying black slavery was a choice.
The rapper was at 107.5 WGCI Chicago this morning for an interview and it was there that he apologised.
Addressing the statement he made on TMZ TV that black people chose to be slaves, Kanye first said that he "never really approached or addressed the slavery comment fully," and discussed it in relation to his mental well-being.
He said:
This is something about the fact that it hurt people’s feelings and the way that I presented that piece of information. I could present in a way more calm way, but I was ramped up. And I apologize. That happens sometimes when people are—I’m not blaming mental health, but I’m explaining mental health.
He added:
I don’t know if I properly apologized for how the slavery comment made people feel. I’m sorry for the one-two effect of the MAGA hat into the slave comment, and I’m sorry for people that felt let down by that moment. And I appreciate you giving me the opportunity to talk to you about the way I was thinking and what I was going through.
He also gave his thoughts on Donald Trump's views on black people, a question he couldn't answer when Jimmy Kimmel asked him during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! He explained that he was silent when Jimmy Kimmel asked him the question because he was taking "time to think."
He said:
I feel that [Trump] cares about the way black people feel about him, and he would like for black people to like him like they did when he was cool in the rap songs... He will do the things that are necessary to make that happen because he’s got an ego like all the rest of us, and he wants to be the greatest president, and he knows that he can’t be the greatest president without the acceptance of the black community. So it’s something he's gonna work towards, but we’re gonna have to speak to him.

Kebbi State First lady, Dr. Zainab Shinkafi Bagudu has narrated how three elephants were saved from hunters in Koko besse Local Government Area of the State on Tuesday.

Kebbi State First lady, Dr. Zainab Shinkafi Bagudu has narrated how three elephants were saved from hunters in Koko besse Local Government Area of the State on Tuesday.
The local government authorities assisted by security forces in the area successfully mobilized the community, secured the animals and kept them away from the usual threats from hunters.
Taking to her social media account, Dr. Zainab said elephants would have been killed had the villagers not been previously warned by Governor Atiku Bagudu.
She recalled how an elephant was caught, killed and butchered by the villagers and hunters last year. They later trooped to the Kebbi State Government House with great pride to present Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu with the slaughtered elephant’s Tusks.
Instead of the praise they expected, they received a lifetimes worth of telling off and an educational lecture with threats of imprisonment. Read her post below:
Saving The Elephants Of Kebbi ??Every year, herds of Elephants migrate around the forests straddling the Kainji, Republics of Benin and Niger. Three were spotted today in Koko Besse LGA, Kebbi. ??Elephants unfortunate enough to be caught are immediately killed as game. ?Trade in poached Elephant tusks forms most of the illegal Ivory trade and has led to the endangerment of the species. Although Custom authorities in the axis often intercept such poachers, control is poor.?One such elephant caught last year had its killing and chopping videotaped and widely distributed. My 6 year old nephew Amir, an intense and true animal lover, cried unconsolably when he saw that carnage. The host community and hunters trooped to the Kebbi State Government House with great pride to present Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu with the slaughtered elephant’s Tusks. To them, they had successfully defended their territory from a single invading elephant.Oh boy, did they get a shock! Instead of the accolades the expected, they received a lifetimes worth of telling off and an educational lecture- interspersed with threats of imprisonment. Most do not realize the criminality or concept of endangered species. Slowly, Gov Bagudu has been educating his people about this. ??It is working. I screamed with delight when he sent me this clip today. Not only were the 3 alive, the Koko LG authorities assisted by security forces in the area successfully mobilized the community, secured the animals and kept them away from the usual threats from hunters etc. I am not sure who is happier today that these elephants are alive- my dear husband? or my dear nephew Amir. ??The lesson I wish to draw here is simple. Being a leader is like being a mother. She loves you. When you err, she shouts, she dangles the slipper, but she is a mother so calms down. She is a patient mother so she forgives you. She is a loving mother and your first teacher so she gives you an educational lecture. You learn. You want to please your mother. You behave better. And so the cycle continues...Thus, If we want better leadership then we have to learn to behave better.May God bless all our leaders for the work of “mothering” that they go through with us daily. ??Today, Atiku Bagudu isn’t just a leader; he is also a “mother” to the human beings of Kebbi State, as well as to our elephants.?Zainab Shinkafi Bagudu, Dr ??Founder Medicaid Cancer Foundation
