Man declared wanted for allegedly raping his friend's 9-year-old daughter in Lagos

The man pictured has been declared wanted for allegedly raping his friend's 9-year-old daughter in Surulere area of Lagos.

 

According to Facebook user, Ebele Umejiaku, the girl is currently hospitalised. 

 

"This guy raped a 9 years old girl in Surulere area and shattered her genitals. She's currently in hospital. Funny enough, he is a close trusted friend of the father of the girl.

Any information about him should be reported to the police."

We will engage with the relevant authorities and vigorously defend our position' - MTN reacts to CBN's fine and order to refund $8bn

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) recently ordered four banks namely Citibank, Diamond Bank, Standard Chartered bank and Stanbic-IBTC, to pay a total sum of N5.87 billion for allegedly issuing irregular certificates of capital importation (CCIs) on behalf of some offshore investors of MTN Nigeria Communications Limited.

Reacting to the development, MTN in a statement said, 'we will engage with the relevant authorities and vigorously defend our position on this matter and provide further information when available'.

Below is their full statement and reaction as shared by BHM;

Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) correspondence regarding Certificates of Capital Importation (CCIs) in Nigeria 

MTN Nigeria Communications Limited (MTN Nigeria) received a letter on 29 August 2018 from CBN alleging that CCIs issued in respect of the conversion of shareholders loans in MTN Nigeria to preference shares in 2007 had been improperly issued. As a consequence they claim that historic dividends repatriated by MTN Nigeria between 2007 and 2015 amounting to $8,1 billion need to be refunded to the CBN.

MTN Nigeria strongly refutes these allegations and claims. No dividends have been declared or paid by MTN Nigeria other than pursuant to CCIs issued by our bankers and with the approval of the CBN as required by law. 

The issues surrounding the CCIs have already been the subject of a thorough enquiry by the Senate of Nigeria. In September 2016 the Senate mandated the Committee on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions to carry out a holistic investigation on compliance with the Foreign exchange (monitoring and miscellaneous) Act by MTN Nigeria and Others. In its report issued in November 2017, the findings evidenced that MTN Nigeria did not collude to contravene the foreign exchange laws and there were no negative recommendations made against MTN Nigeria. 

MTN Nigeria, as a law-abiding citizen of Nigeria, is committed to good governance and to abiding by the extant laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The re-emergence of these issues is regrettable as it damages investor confidence and, by extension, inhibits the growth and development of the Nigerian economy.

Mystery woman in shackles and just T-shirt caught frantically ringing doorbells in the middle of the night (video)

A mystery woman was caught on camera in the middle of the night, looking distressed as she repeatedly rang doorbells in a neighbourhood in Texas.

The woman had shackles on her wrists and seemed to need help as she frantically rang doorbells in the Sunrise Ranch area of Montgomery, Texas at around 3am on Friday August 24. She had on only a T-shirt with no pants or shoes. She was captured on resident, Jennie Drude's security camera. By the time residents got to their doors, the woman was gone.

The video was shared online with the aim of locating the woman who obviously needed help.

Officials in Montgomery County, Texas, have now said that the woman has been identified but said they will not be naming the woman because she is a domestic violence victim. The woman is safe and with her family, the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office said in a statement.

The female that we have all been looking for has been identified and is safe. She is currently outside Montgomery County and our investigators will be meeting with her to continue the investigation, the statement said.

Meanwhile, the woman's boyfriend has been found dead from apparent suicide. On Wednesday, deputies responded to a home in Sunrise Ranch after receiving a call about a man who made "suicidal comments," according to a statement. They found a 49-year-old man dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, along with a suicide note linking him to the woman seen in the video.

POSTSFlood occasioned by four hours of heavy downpour of rain has killed over 8000 birds at a poultry at Igiede Street off Erediauwa Street in Ikpoba-Okha local government area.

The owner of the poultry resorted to selling the dead birds for N500.

Report has it that, over 25 building submerged and 152 persons rendered homeless.. Wednesday August 29, 2018.
