5 Food Combinations That May Affect Your Health - Health -

Knificent.blogspot.com .
Do you often have problems in digesting a meal? If you have ever wondered about the reason, it is probably because you eat foods that should never be combined. This causes problems in digestion. You probably have painful gas, heartburn, and an upset stomach. Jumia, Nigeria’s leading online food ordering platform, shares food combinations to avoid like a plague. Your health will benefit a lot.

Dairy and pineapple

Sour fruits such as pineapple cause the digestive system to work a little slower. Pineapple also contains bromelain, an enzymic complex that can cause health issues when combined with dairy products. If you’re adding fruit to your yoghurt, try apricots instead of pineapple. Or, skip the fruit and add oats or honey.

A sandwich and coffee

Many people eat breakfast on-the-go, especially when they’ve had a hectic morning and they’re running late for work. A breakfast sandwich and a cup of coffee have become a regular meal choice. The problem is, the simple carbs in bread prevent the calcium in the cheese from being digested properly. Adding instant coffee to the mix ends up providing zero benefits when it comes to heart health.

Potatoes and meat

A steak and fries might sound like a delicious meal. Unfortunately, it’s not the healthiest combination. The starch in potatoes needs alkalotic digestive fluids, while the proteins in meat need acidic digestive fluids. When you eat them together, the foods can end up causing heartburn, gas and other digestive issues. Don’t eat meat and fried potatoes.

Tomatoes and cucumbers

Tomatoes and cucumbers are a popular combination for a healthy and refreshing salad. But adding these two ingredients together can actually disturb the biochemical pathways of your body. The mixture can cause swelling, and the vitamins that the foods contain won’t be digested properly. Eat these foodsseparately instead of together!

Banana and milk

Sweet fruits that contain a lot of natural sugar can stay inside the body for a longer period of time. This can cause the digestive system to slow down, especially when you combine them with milk.

Knificent.blogspot.com .

A Nigerian man was rushed to the hospital after allegedly falling from a five storey building in a migrant camp in Germany. According to media reports, the new migrant jumped from the building in a suspected case of suicide before the arrival of the police and emergency officials who rushed him to the hospital in an ambulance.

In a trending video footage posted online, other Nigerian migrants at the camp can be heard speaking in Pidgin English as they revealed their shock over the alleged suicide attempt.

Meanwhile, president Muhammadu Buhari publicly told German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, his government does not support Nigerians trying to illegally enter Europe, saying those caught would be “at his or her own risk”.

The president said this on Friday morning after receiving the German Chancellor at the presidential villa in Abuja.

The president said “Any Nigerian found in Libya or anywhere on his way to Europe through illegal means will be brought home and we will send him back to the local government.”

Nigerian School In Kenya Closed Over Sexual Abuse Allegations - Education

Knificent.blogspot.com .

The 72 students of a Nigerian school in Kenya, Caritas Mariana Secondary School in Thika, were sent home after the institution was closed over allegations of sexual abuse and extreme religious practices.

The school that is run by a Nigerian priest is now embroiled in damning allegations that also include drug abuse and employment of unregistered teachers.

It is not the first time that Fr. Bertrand Maria Nwachukwu, who is in charge of the Caritas Mariana mission, has been linked to a controversial saga involving school children.

In 2016, Kiambu County officials raided a primary school and a children’s home run by his organisation after one of the pupils died and separate claims emerged of sexual molestation.

He responded by writing a protest letter accusing government officials of malice.

On Wednesday, Thika Sub-County Director of Education Ronald Mbogo said the allegations against the Caritas Mariana Secondary School in Thika are ” very serious”.

Mbogo said he received reports from an anonymous source who also claimed that the school employed unregistered teachers.

He revealed that a team from the Sub-County education office carried out investigations and later recommended immediate closure of the school after substantiating the damning allegations.

Education ministry officials have since initiated transfer of the students to neighbouring schools.

In an unexpected twist of events, parents joined the school management in claiming that the ministry has “ulterior motives”.

They are accusing the officials of being behind a ploy to grab the land on which the school in Thika is built.

“Parents are now stranded with their children at home and have nowhere to take them. Why did the officials close the school in the middle of the year? This is against the ministry’s policy,”Henry Ngure said.

Ngure, who is the Parents Teachers Association (PTA) chairman, insisted that move has jeopardised the fate of 10 KCSE candidates who failed to get admission into other schools.

Education officials have however indicated that names of the said students have been forwarded to the ministry and further assured parents that their children would be catered for.

The school director John Mwaura has since denied the allegations and even refutes the report from the ministry that investigations were conducted.

Kwankwaso Reveals How PDP Is Better Than APC - Politics -

Knificent.blogspot.com .
Former Kano Governor, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso has said that the opportunity given to the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration in 2015 was not being handled properly.

Speaking during a visit to the Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu on Tuesday, Kwankwaso said Nigeria faces poverty, insecurity and other challenges because of the Federal Government’s inability to check leakages.

Senator Kwankwaso, a presidential aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 general election, said: “We were thinking that Peoples Democratic Party is bad but now, we realise it is better than the All Progressive Congress.”

He added, “This is because the opportunity given to them to govern is not being handled well, we worked assiduously in 2014-2015 for APC but now, we are seeing the difference.

“The leaders lack the capacity to do certain things, that is why the country is facing insecurity and unemployment.

“Poverty is the biggest challenge in the country so we must ensure the leadership checks the leakages,” Kwankwaso said.
