.Cockpit error leaves over?30 passengers on India?s Jet Airway?s flight bleeding from their ears and noses

A cockpit mix-up left more than 30 passengers on India’s Jet Airway’s flight bleeding from their ears and noses on Thursday after the crew forgot to flick a switch regulating cabin air pressure.

The Jet Airways flight to Jaipur had to turn back as the alarming symptoms became apparent, the airline said, with one traveller describing “panic” on board.

The plane carrying 166 passengers landed back in Mumbai and those affected were given medical attention while alternative flights were arranged, Jet Airways said. The flight crew “has been taken off scheduled duties pending investigation”, the company said in a statement.

People on board posted photos and videos of the calamity online, with one purported passenger, Darshak Hathi, uploading footage on Twitter showing travellers using oxygen masks.

The incident is the latest in a string of embarrassing incidents for the airline, which like other Indian carriers has been suffering financially. In January, two Jet Airways pilots were grounded for getting into a brawl and storming out of the cockpit briefly during a New Year’s Day flight from London to Mumbai.

Ifeanyi Joachin Nwafor And His Indian Wife Arrested For Fraud In India - Crime -

Knificent.blogspot.com .
A Nigerian ex-footballer, who is a former State-level football player, and his Indian wife were arrested on Monday in India for duping people on the pretext of custom clearance for gifts sent by them, the police said on Wednesday, Times of India reports.

They have duped a social worker, the police said.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Anto Alphonse said that the accused, identified as Ifeanyi Joachin Nwafor, who has played for three State-level teams in Chennai and Kerala, and his wife were arrested from Dabri on Monday.

The police said that the social worker, who runs an NGO, approached them and said that one George Moor, a UK-based man, had requested her to accept gifts for the poor in India.

She said she then got a call from a woman, who claimed that she was from the Customs Department and that the complainant would have to pay money to receive the gifts. The victim paid over ₹1 lakh on two occasions. She, however, got suspicious after more money was demanded.

After she approached the police, an investigation was taken up and bank account details were sought. The CCTV footage of the ATMs from where the deposited money was withdrawn were also scanned, after which the accused were arrested.

“During interrogation, it was found that Nwafor is from Nigeria. In 2009, he had come to India on a business visa. In 2012, he came in contact with the woman [his co-accused] through Facebook, who is from Assam. They later started living together in Delhi and eventually got married,” Mr. Alphonse said.

The police said that Nwafor made several fake Facebook accounts approach people through the social media. After taking them into confidence, he used to tell them about sending precious gifts for them. His wife used to pose as Customs officer and call them, they said.

The police claimed to have recovered over ₹6 lakh that they had collected by from different people by cheating them.

Mobile phones, jewellery, laptops among other articles have also been seized, the police further said.

N5.87b Fine: CBN Reviews New Evidence From Banks, MTN - Business

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is reviewing new evidence from four banks and MTN Nigeria over the sanctions slammed on them by the regulator, it was learnt yesterday.

The banks – Standard Chartered Bank, Stanbic-IBTC, Citibank and Diamond Bank – were last month fined N5.87 billion by the apex bank for breach of capital importation policy.

The CBN had accused the banks of remitting foreign exchange with irregular Certificates of Capital Importation (CCIs) issued on behalf of some offshore investors of MTN Nigeria Communications Limited. The banks and MTN Nigeria have denied any wrongdoing.

According to the CBN, the lenders were asked to refund $8,134,312,397.63 for what it described as ‘flagrant violation of extant laws and regulations of the country, including the Foreign Exchange (Monitoring and Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1995 of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Foreign Exchange Manual, 2006’.

In a statement yesterday, CBN Director, Corporate Communications, Isaac Okorafor, said: “In response to the recent regulatory actions, the banks and MTN are engaging the CBN and have provided additional information which is currently being reviewed with a view to arriving at an equitable resolution.

“We assure all investors that the integrity of the CCI regime remains sacrosanct and there shall be no retroactive application of foreign exchange rules and regulations.”

The regulator also defended its N5.87 billion fine on the banks over alleged capital importation breaches on $8.1 billion transactions involving MTN Nigeria. The apex bank has insisted that the sanctions will not deter foreign investors from coming to invest in Nigeria.

Okorafor, said the apex bank acknowledges the public interest over sanctions recently imposed on four deposit money banks (DMBs). The apex bank said it welcomes all legitimate investors to take advantage of the enormous investment opportunities in Nigeria.

“We wish to restate that the CBN will continue to welcome foreign investments and investors. Indeed, some of our recent innovations and reforms of the Foreign Exchange regime such as the introduction of the Nigerian Autonomous Foreign Exchange (NAFEX) window are designed to simplify foreign exchange regulations.

“Furthermore, the delegation of the issuance of Certificates of Capital Importation (CCIs) to commercial and merchant banks some years ago was done to instill confidence in the investor community and encourage the flow of foreign direct and portfolio investments into the Nigerian economy.

The sanctions on the banks arose due to irregularities with respect to repatriations made on behalf of MTN Nigeria Limited and were not in any way designed to restrict access to investor returns.

“In response to the recent regulatory actions, the banks and MTN are engaging the CBN and have provided additional information which is currently being reviewed with a view to arriving at an equitable resolution.

“We assure all investors that the integrity of the CCI regime remains sacrosanct and there shall be no retroactive application of foreign exchange rules and regulations”.

Justin Bieber is worth $265m but

Canadian singer, Justin Bieber, who is worth a reported $265m has refused to protect his fortune when he weds his 21-year-old fiancee Hailey Baldwin.

According to a new report from InTouch Weekly, the 24-year-old singer believe they will be married forever.
'He refuses to get a prenup,' says a source. 'He's deeply religious and believes that marriage is for life and divorce isn't an option.

But his team thinks that he should be more careful and get a prenup, sources tell the publication.
'They think Justin is being naive,' said the insider. 'Justin's family and management hope that he and Hailey work out but at the same time they want him to protect his assets.'

Meanwhile, there has been confusion about whether if the two are married already.

Last week, news surfaced that Justin and Hailey secretly got married after they were spotted at the NYC courthouse to get their marriage license.
Hailey later shutdown the news and tweeted they were not married. The model wrote: 'I understand where the speculation is coming from, but I'm not married yet!'
But at the Emmys Award on Monday, her uncle Alec Baldwin said that they got married. 'They just went off and got married and I don't know what the deal is,' the SNL star said.
