Chukwunonye Madubuike, a former Nigerian pharmaceuticals executive who was implicated in a BBC investigation into the illegal sale of addictive opioids/codeine has been arrested.  

He was arrested and detained close to the border with Benin. He went on the run in May after he was filmed illegally selling codeine syrup to an undercover BBC reporter. Police said he told them he thought he was selling to a genuine businessman and regretted not checking his ID.

A 13 year old girl identified as Ochanya who battled with Vesicovaginal fistula (VVF) and other health complications after years of alleged sexual abuse by a lecturer and his son, passed away in a private hospital in Otukpo, Benue State on Wednesday. 
 
The suspects, 51 year old Mr Andrew Ugbokolo, the Head of Department, Catering and Hotel Management at the Benue State Polytechnic and his son, Victor Inalegwu Ogboja, a final year student of Animal Production at the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, are being accussed of consistently molested Ochanya since she was 9. They allegedly took turns on her every night.

Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, has said electricity supply in the country is improving slowly and that power problems cannot be solved by magic.
Fashola said this when he spoke at the inauguration of the 2x100MVA, 132/33kV power transformers at the Ejigbo Transmission Substation, Lagos, yesterday, October 18th.
While speaking at the ceremony, Fashola took a swipe at the meeting.
