Ugandan President, Yoweri Museveni bans gambling and sports betting in the country

Ugandan President,?Yoweri Museveni?bans gambling and sports betting in the country

Uganda's  Finance minister David Bahati, has confirmed that President Yoweri Museveni has ordered his government not to issue or renew licences for sports betting firms.

Bahati said President Museveni issued the directive because of the negative impact the betting craze has had on young people.

“We have received a directive from President Museveni to stop licensing sports betting, gaming and gambling companies. The President has now directed the board which has been regulating them. From now onwards, no new companies are going to be licensed. Those which are already registered, no renewal of licences when they expire” Bahati told a church congregation at Rugarama Hill in Kabale town on Sunday.

Bahati said church leaders who have been against sports betting can now praise the Lord because their prayers have been answered. However, the Ministry of Finance spokesman, Mr Jim Mugunga, said he was unaware of the president's directive but added that he does not doubt it.

Manchester United CLOSER to signing world class forward as Prem club name their price

Manchester United look a step closer to sealing the incredible transfer of Chelsea forward Eden Hazard as the Blues accept they’ll have to sell him for around £88million this summer.
According to Marca, the Belgium international will refuse any new contract offers at Stamford Bridge as he sets his sights on a move to Real Madrid.

However, Hazard has also been linked with Man Utd on more than one occasion in recent months, particularly when Zinedine Zidane looked a leading contender for the job.
While that now looks unlikely, CaughtOffsideunderstands United retain an interest in Hazard, particularly as his contract situation means he can soon leave on a cut-price fee.
The 28-year-old could be a fine signing for the Red Devils given Alexis Sanchez’s struggles, while Marcus Rashford has recently moved from out wide to playing as a central striker.

Hazard could be a dream player to come in and set up more opportunities for Rashford, while he’s also shone playing alongside United striker Romelu Lukaku in the Belgian national team.
While Chelsea will surely do all they can to get Hazard a move abroad, United have a strong record of signing players from their rivals, with Sanchez from Arsenal a recent example and Juan Mata and Nemanja Matic among those to recently move to Old Trafford from Chelsea.

2019 Election: 'We will not accept any move by INEC to accommodate APC in Rivers State' - PDP

2019 Election:

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a statement that vehemently rejects contemplations by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to accommodate the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the general elections in Rivers state.

PDP’s position is predicated on the suggestion by INEC, through its National Commissioner and Chairman of Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye, that certain circumstances could lead to the postponement of election, in Rivers State, to accommodate the APC, which currently do not have candidates in the elections, following the quashing of its congresses in the state by the Court.
Such suggestion by INEC is distasteful and only points to a collusion with the APC in its plot to stalemate electoral processes in some strategic states to pave the way to postpone elections in such states and use compromised security forces to effect massive rigging, as was the case in the 2018 Ekiti and Osun states governorship elections, a scheme, which will be firmly resisted by Nigerians in the 2019 general elections.
