Ekiti Bank Robbery: Staff Stole Money, Caught On CCTV - Police - Crime -

Ekiti State Commissioner of Police , Mr Asuquo Amba , said on Friday that the Inspector General of Police , Mohammed Adamu , had ordered a thorough investigation into Thursday ’s armed robbery attack on the Oye Ekiti branch of a new generation bank and the Oye Police Division.

Amba , who said there was a close similarity between the armed robbers ’ attack and the one on a bank at Ise Ekiti about two months ago , said , “ The IGP has directed that there must be a very thorough investigation and that this mode of operation must be brought to fore .”

The robbers, who attacked the police station to dislodge the security agents ahead of the bank robbery where they blasted the security door with dynamite and carted away over N 25 million and some foreign currencies also killed two persons – a policeman and a seven - year -old girl.

Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israeli has formally been charged with bribery, fraud, and breach of trust while in office.

Israeli Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit on Thursday, November 21, issued a 63-page indictment against the country’s longest-serving prime minister after almost three years of investigation.

The Attorney-General disclosed his decision at a news conference at 7.30pm local time, where he said he 'decided to file charges against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for offences of receiving a bribe, fraud, and breach of trust.'

N1.45trn Goods Smuggled Into Nigeria From Benin Republic Annually – Agency -



The Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority (NEPZA) says N1.45 trillion worth of goods are smuggled into Nigeria annually from Benin Republic.

The Acting Managing Director of NEPZA, David Nongo, said he sourced the data from the World Bank.

He said this at the Two-Day National Workshop on the Role of Maritime in the AfCFTA Agreement with the theme: ‘AfCFTA: Boosting Nigeria’s Economy for Sustainable Development.’

The workshop was organised by the Association of Maritime Journalists of Nigeria (AMJON) in Lagos on Wednesday.

He lamented the menace of smuggling of goods through the Benin Republic corridor into Nigeria saying “it is of negative economic influence to the nation”.

The Protection from Internet Falsehood and Manipulations Bill also known as the Social Media Bill on Wednesday passed second reading in the Senate.

Reacting, Nollywood actress, Adesuwa Etomi slammed the Nigerian government for failing to tackle the country’s endemic problem but rather focused on regulating social media.

Speaking via her official Twitter handle, Etomi identified the critical problems rocking the country as thus; lack of quality education, high infant and maternal mortality rate, insecurity, poverty, and lack of job opportunities.

She made the comment in reaction to the social media bill which has scaled the second reading at the senate.

Earlier today, we reported that French Montana was hospitalized on Thursday, November 21, after he experienced severe stomach pains, nausea, and an increased heart rate. 

The 35-year-old American-Moroccan rapper was rushed via ambulance from his home to a San Fernando Valley hospital in Los Angeles hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment that includes IV fluids and is expected to be released anytime soon.

Now sources close to the rapper have revealed that he has been traveling for the last few weeks to the Middle East and Europe. They believe his health scare could be a result of him being exposed to contaminated food following his recent visit to his birth country, Morocco, where he celebrated his 35th birthday.

Ismaila Mustapha Sues EFCC For N5 Million Over Unlawful Detention - Crime -


Social media celebrity, Ismaila Mustapha, popularly known as Mompha, has filed a suit against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) alleging unlawful detention and a violation of his rights.

Mompha was arrested on October 19 at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja on allegations of cybercrime and money laundering.

The Instagram celebrity has now filed a fundamental rights enforcement suit at the Lagos State High Court in Igbosere through his lawyer, Gboyega Oyewole.

Igbere TV reports that Mompha is demanding damages of N5 million for his unlawful detention without trial.

The former President of Ghana, Dr. John Dramani Mahama has come hard on the Nigerian government, calling on the immediate reopening of the the borders, which were closed a few months ago.

Mahama made the call while speaking as the guest speaker at the 7th Anniversary Lecture of Realnews magazine held at the Sheraton Hotel in Lagos, Nigeria.

He said: “In Nigeria, the unilateral closure of the borders since August is a worrying development for the growth of free trade in the ECOWAS sub-region. Off course, one can understand the harmful effects of unbridled smuggling goods on the growth of local production. But it is problematic that sub-regional economic activity and trade should suffer because of domestic institutional weaknesses.
