Jose Mourinho is monitoring Atletico Madrid star Lucas Hernandez, reports claim.

The Portuguese tactician was desperate to bolster his defence this summer with Harry Maguire, Toby Alderweireld and Yerry Mina on his transfer shortlist.

But the Red Devils failed to bring the trio to Old Trafford, and now attentions are turning to the January transfer window.

TribalFootball via France Football claim Mourinho is now interested in Lucas, who played virtually every minute of France’s World Cup campaign at left-back but is capable of playing in central defence.

Real Madrid are reported to have triggered the 22-year-old’s £72million release clause earlier in the year, but Lucas turned down their approach.
