Chelsea set to rival Barca for Serie A world class defender

Chelsea set to rival Barca for Serie A world class defender

Chelsea is set to give Barcelona a good run for their money when they enter the race to sign Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly ahead of the next season.
Former Chelsea manager Antonio Conte tried to sign the Senegalese defender but Napoli’s valuation was what deterred the Stamford Bridge directors from pushing further.

The reports in the Italian media maintained that Chelsea and Barcelona still have interest in the centre defender.
Maurizio Sarri is keen to reunite with Koulibaly after he managed the versatile defender at Napoli before he moved to Chelsea and that could an advantage over Barcelona who is also in the race.
Barcelona has been monitoring Koulibaly for months and has decided to give a chase for the Senegal international.
Chelsea’s offer is so high it’s unlikely Barcelona would look to match it, giving Sarri’s side an added advantage.
