President Buhari has explained why the country is still experiencing the problem of out-of-school children, known as Almajiri in the North.
During a town hall session tonight in Abuja, the President said the state and local governments have not been fulfilling their own part of the bargain.
“Federal Government gives money to state and local governments and they’re the ones who can take care of the Almajiri issue, but because they didn’t do their job, that’s why we still have the issue of Almajiris”the President said.
Reports however indicate that more than N67bn earmarked by the Federal Government between 2005 and 2017 for the Universal Basic Education scheme has yet to be accessed.
