Enugu State police command?arrest ATM fraud syndicate, recover over 30 cards
The Enugi State Police Command State has arrested a three-man Automated Teller Machine fraud syndicate operating within the city.

In a statement on Friday in Enugu, the command’s spokesman, SP Ebere Amaraizu, said  the police operatives recovered 30 ATM cards belonging to different individuals from the syndicate. He said the syndicate was smashed by the command’s Anti Cultism Squad who acted on a well-coordinated intelligence information.

He also said the syndicate specialised in swindling their victims of hard-earned money from their bank accounts through their ATM cards transactions.

According to him, they do this smartly under the pretext of offering assistance to customers, but exchange their non-functional ATM cards with the customers’ genuine own. “They will pick the real ATM cards and also spy on the pin code of the genuine customers’ cards. They use this trick to wreck havoc on the affected victims and hereby withdrawing all the customers’ deposit in a matter of some hours,’’ he said.

He gave the suspects’ names as Chinweuba Ogodo, a tricycle operator in the city, who is from Ezza in Ebonyi; Okechukwu Nwoke, a bus driver from Ahiazu Mbaise,Imo; and Sopuruchi Emmanuel from Alayi Bende, Abia; all resident in Enugu. Amaraizu said that Ogodo regretted his involvement in the crime and blamed it on lack of knowledge.

He said Ogodo confessed that as a commercial tricycle rider, he was always contracted by Nwoke and Emmanuel to convey them to banks with crowded ATM customers where they loitered to discover their preys. He said that a full scale investigation into the incident had begun. The police spokesman advised members of the public to be vigilant, security conscious and wary of those that would try to offer them help at any ATM machine.

95% of Nigeria artistes are semi-professional beggars' - Music executive, KC Delgado

Nigerian music executive and critic, KC Oguejiofor has said most artistes in the country are  'semi-professional beggars'.

According to him, 'It is not a trend that started now anyways, but the level of begging is partly why we have a messed up industry. An artist that will rant on the Internet about the lack of structure, and government don't do enough to support us, will sit with Bukola Saraki or Alabi yellow without a common sense, Ben Murray-Bruce instead of having intelligent conversations on what they can do to better your industry and protect you and your work, which is your legacy, these idiots will pose for selfies and beg for money they will use to brag on the internet'.

He also added that, 'these beggars will sit with Emeka Offor or Chief Kuku, instead of talking business, value and how to bring invest and Co they will be smiling and drinking free alcohol and discussing how they will bring an actress for the man to congo shine. Come 2019 I'm not saying I won't collect money if offered, but I will do all I can to make sure that Baba Jfo and Kevin Lucciano win their elections to the Federal house of Assembly. They are young, intelligent and above all have a stake in my industry, and I am definitely certain they will push for reforms that will protect our stakes. If you do not want to be a beggar do the right thing'.

Who cares about NYSC certificate, we can't afford to lose Kemi Adeosun- Prof Sagay says

Who cares about NYSC certificate, we can't afford to lose Kemi Adeosun- Prof Sagay says

Who cares about NYSC certificate, we can
Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC), Itse Sagay, has reacted to calls by Nigerians for the Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, to react to the allegations that she forged her NYSC discharge certificate.

Recall that in July, Premium Times had reported that the minister falsified her NYSC exemption certificate. The Minister is yet to react to this allegation.

In a fresh interview with The Nation, Sagay said Adeosun's expertise is very important to this administration and that she cannot be allowed to go just because of a NYSC certificate.
“Let me tell you my reaction. This woman is a brilliant and extremely valuable member of this government. A lot of the good things happening now – the welfare that Nigerians are enjoying and are going to enjoy, because it takes time, and the way our economy is booming, how we got out of recession – are due to her expertise, her commitment, her sacrifice. There is nothing in this world that will make me remove such a woman from the government. The PDP can weep from now until there is no tear in their body; she is going to be there. We cannot afford to lose that woman. Who cares about youth service? I don’t bloody care whether she did youth service or not. It’s irrelevant as far as I am concerned. I don’t believe it. I don’t see anything serious about not doing youth service. I don’t see anything serious about it. That’s my own bias, not government’s. I’m telling you now. If I were President Buhari, I would never, ever touch that woman because she’s damn good.” he said

On the allegation that she forged her exemption certificate, he said
“I don’t believe it. I don’t see anything serious about not doing youth service. I don’t see anything serious about it. That’s my own bias, not government’s. I’m telling you now. If you ask me – If I were President Buhari, I would never, ever touch that woman because she’s damn good. The enemies of this government want to reduce his capacity to provide good governance by engaging in social media attacks and trying to get rid of her. It will not work.”

Sagay also called on Bukola Saraki to resign his position as senate president since his defection from APC to PDP.
“He should relinquish his position as a matter of honour. He’s not compelled by law to do so. He needs to be removed by two-thirds majority. He got there because he was in APC, even though he got there by subterfuge, which is typical of him. He got there in a cheeky, fraudulent manner. Nevertheless, for him to be removed, they need two-thirds, not of the senate, but of those present and voting at a meeting. It doesn’t have to be everybody. It’s those who happen to be there. Once they meet the quorum of one-third, and he is there, he can be removed by two-thirds of that one-third'' he said
