NCC To Sanction Telecom Operators For ‘call Masking’ - Phones

Knificent.blogspot.com .The Nigerian Communication Commission, says it will impose appropriate sanctions on any telecom operator that allows the illegal masking of international calls.

Call masking refers to termination of international calls with local telephone numbers displayed on a receiver’s phone screen.

Alhaji Ismail Adedigba, Deputy Director, Consumer Affairs Bureau of NCC told News Agency of Nigeria in Yenagoa on Friday that the trend was illegal and fraudulent.

“NCC is focused on the protection of consumers in the telecommunications space in Nigeria and the development of the sector over the years has thrown up contemporary challenges in the industry like call masking.

“We have outlawed it and we encourage subscribers who receive international calls with local numbers showing on their phone screens to report to us in NCC by calling our toll free number 622.

“Calls to 622, are at no cost, we expect them to give us the number displayed so that we can trace the erring operator for appropriate regulatory sanctions.

“Our regulatory mandate includes consumer protection and to shield them from market exploitation and fraud,” Adedigba said.

He said that the NCC was working to acquire appropriate technologies to nip call masking in the bud rather than rely on subscribers reports.

On the limited telephone coverage of telephone services in remote areas, Adedigba said NCC was developing “local roaming” among operators to make telephone service available to subscribers across the networks.

Adedigba who spoke to NAN shortly after NCC’s 98th Consumer Engagement Programme in Yenagoa, noted that following feedback from the session, the commission has urged operators to improve quality of service in Bayelsa.

“Our Consumer Engagement on Thursday in Yenagoa was very fruitful and we felt the pulse of telecommunications subscribers and the challenges facing operators in view of the difficult terrain of the state.

“We got useful suggestions from the subscribers and advised the service providers to take the feedback seriously.

“On our part, we also engage in data collection from all the participants and we shall analyse the data to guide our policy formulation,” he said.

Eniola Adenuga To Be Arrested Over Child, Anthena & Mother, Damilola, Saga - Business

Knificent.blogspot.com .Glo Chairman’s Son, Eniola Adenuga To Be Arrested Over Baby Mama Drama

Eniola, the son of Globacom chairman, Mike Adenuga will be arrested anytime soon, following a Tinubu Chief Magistrate’s Court order.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr T.A. Elias, in a ruling declared that the 28-year-old was in contempt of court for refusing to give the custody of his child, Anthena, to the mother, Damilola.

Elias said Eniola should be arrested until he gives, “full custody of the subject (Anthena) to the respondent (Damilola).”

Punch reports that Eniola and Damilola dated, and within the period, the 25-year-old became pregnant and had the child.

In September 2017, a Tinubu Magistrate’s Court gave an interim order which awarded the custody of the child to the mother.

While Eniola was given unrestricted access to the child, he was, however, asked to pick her every Friday and return her to the mother on Sunday.

The arrangement was said to have been running smoothly until May 18, 2018, when the father, in company of two policemen, allegedly took Athena from school and failed to return her to the mother.

The Falana & Falana Chambers had written a petition to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, accusing Eniola of abduction.

Mrs Funmi Falana, on behalf of her client, filed an ex-parte application on May 25, 2018, seeking the release of the child to the mother.

She said Damilola had been traumatised by the incident, adding that she was afraid for the child’s safety.

The application was granted by a magistrate, Mrs M.R. Osho-Adebiyi, who ordered Eniola to produce the child.

He was further ordered to appear before the court to explain why he should not be charged for contempt of court.

However, Eniola’s lawyer, Victor Amalu, filed a motion on notice on August 7, 2018, praying for a stay of execution of the order.

Eniola’s application was, however, countered by Falana, who said he was taking the court for granted.

The chief magistrate, Elias, overruled Amalu’s objections, describing the “modus operandi” used by Eniola as “appalling.”

He said, “The applicant (Eniola) on May 18, 2018, in company with some armed mobile policemen, went to Athena’s school and forcefully took her away contrary to the order of court dated September 20, 2017, granting custody to the respondent and access every fortnight from Friday to Sunday to the applicant.

“As there is no order of court validating this act, it amounts to taking law into his own hand and this on its own attracts sanction which should be expected.

“As the best interest of the child shall be primary consideration, this honourable family court is satisfied with the applicant application….”

The chief magistrate, citing Section 64 of the Lagos State Child Right Law, 2007, gave full custody of the child to the mother till she was 18 years old.

He also gave Eniola, “supervised” access to the child, adding that he could only see her every fortnight.

Elias advised the parents to take the child’s welfare seriously and put her development and progress first.

“The continuous refusal of the applicant to produce the subject in court amounts to contempt; bench warrant is accordingly ordered for any police officers to effect his arrest until he purges himself of contempt and gives full custody of the subject to the respondent,” he added.

Diego?Maradona appointed as coach of Mexican club, Dorados

.Argentine soccer legend, Diego Maradona has been appointed coach of Mexican second division team Dorados.

The club issued a short video on their social media channels with the messages ‘Welcome Diego’, and ‘Make it a 10’, the Argentina great’s shirt number as a player. Although Dorados, who are based in Sinaloa state in northwest Mexico, gave no further details, Mexican newspapers said Maradona had been hired to replace Francisco Gamez.

Dorados fired Gamez earlier on Thursday after a poor start to the season that brought three points out of a possible 15. They are 13th in the 15-team league, joint bottom of the table. The 57-year-old former Barcelona and Napoli forward is considered one of the greatest players of all time after a career that peaked in 1986 when he captained Argentina to their second and last World Cup title.

Maradona previously had short stints coaching clubs in Argentina and the United Arab Emirates but his longest spell in charge was with Argentina, who he led at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. He will be presented by Dorados this weekend and will debut as coach on Sept. 15 when the club faces Cafetaleros de Tapachula.
