'I'm impressed with INEC's readiness for the 2019 elections - President Buhari tells EU election observers

President Buhari today in Abuja told the European Union Observer Mission (EOM) to Nigeria’s elections starting in February, that he was impressed by the preparations made by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and was optimistic that the electoral body would deliver on its mandate of a credible poll.

Receiving the EOM, led by the Chief Observer and member of the European Parliament, Maria Arena, at the State House, the President said he had listened earlier in the day, to the INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, when he briefed the National Council of State.

According to President Buhari, “I am happy and impressed with the briefing he gave. I hope that the confidence he exuded and the intellect he brought to bear on the Report will be justified at the end of the day.”

The President told the EU delegation that Nigeria had grown its electoral system incrementally, getting better year after year. “Having participated in elections four times in the past, I would say that since 2015, technology has helped the credibility of our elections,” he said.
President Buhari said that Nigeria with over 250 cultural groups across religions and ethnic groups, with each group canvassing for identity and primacy in the affairs of the nation, “patriotism demands that we identify the nation’s best interest and go with it.”

He stressed that the governing All Progressives Congress, APC, administration had the good sense of identifying the national interest to include security, peace and stability, improved economy, jobs creation and the campaign against corruption, noting that the party was not wrong in 2015, and is not wrong going into the election this year with the same issues in its campaigns.

The President thanked the delegation for taking interest in Nigeria’s elections, and in the affairs of the nation generally.

The EOM team, accompanied by Ambassador Ketil Karlsen, Head, European Delegation to Nigeria and ECOWAS, said that the EU had observed every election in Nigeria since 1999, and had come here again for the next one, following an invitation by INEC.

The delegation promised impartiality and neutrality in the monitoring of the elections.

He doesn't have an ability to have that kind of conversation." When pressed on what his message to the President would be, Kerry responded, "Resign".

Buhari plans to use police, soldiers to rig elections- TY Danjuma alleges

Former Minister of Defence, Theophilus Danjuma, has accused the Buhari-led administration of planning to use police and soldiers to rig the coming elections. The presidential and National Assembly elections is slated for February 16th while the governorship/state Assembly/Federal Capital Territory Area Council elections will hold on Saturday, 2nd March, 2019.
The retired army general made the allegation when he spoke at the inauguration of a medical laboratory at the Rufkatu Danjuma Maternity Hospital in Takum, his hometown in Taraba state yesterday January 22nd.
Describing Nigeria’s democracy as primitive, he said there is a plan to cause unrest that would make some states ungovernable in order to manipulate the 2019 elections.
“We must work hard for peace in addition to just registering and obtaining our permanent voter cards. There is no need to fight one another because they will use the police and soldiers to destabilise us and rig the elections. It is in our best interest to ensure there is peace. Those behind this plot know that they will not win elections if there is peace. I want to call on you not to sell your votes because you will be selling your birthright if you do so.” he said

Nigeria Labour Congress swiftly rejects the N27,000 minimum wages adopted by the national council of state

Nigeria Labour Congress swiftly rejects?the N27,000?minimum wages adopted by the national council of state

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has rejected the N27,000 new National Minimum Wage adopted by the National Council of State today.

Dr Peter Ozo-Eson, the NLC General Secretary, made this known to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Abuja. According to him, the council has no jurisdiction determining another amount after a Tripartite Committee has submitted its report.

“It is abysmal of government to be delaying the submission of an Executive Bill to the National Assembly and by wrongfully adopting N27,000 through the council of states,” he said. Ozo-Eson, however, said the NLC has called an emergency National Executive Council meeting for Friday to weigh on the deadline given to government within which to submit an executive bill to the National Assembly.

The NLC general scribe added that the Federal Government was only projecting a shutdown of the economy with its latest action. “This is because workers should not be held responsible for any development after its NEC meeting on Friday,’’ he said.

''Our economy failing because investors know Buhari not in charge'' - Bukola Saraki

Senate President Bukola Saraki, says the drop in Foreign Direct Investment in Nigeria is because most foreign investors have come to understand that ''President Buhari is not the one running this administration.''
A recent report by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development indicated that Ghana has overtaken Nigeria as West Africa’s largest recipient of FDI.
Speaking on AIT this morning, Saraki said on several occasions, President Buhari has shown he is not in charge of this government.
''You know we have said many times that there is a government within the government. It is clear that the private sector doesn’t have the confidence and that is why if you look at the level of direct investment in the country, you will see that it is low. But our own candidate would drive that. He would be able to engage the private sector and inspire confidence to put in investment.” he said

"I find this disturbing": Freeze reacts to viral video of little girl speaking in tongues and laying hands on her mother

A little girl was filmed speaking in tongues while laying hands on the head of a woman believed to be her mother. A lot of people thought the video was adorable but OAP Freeze has a contrary opinion.
The media personality said the video of the child praying in tongues is neither cute nor adorable, instead, he finds it disturbing.
Sharing the video to Instagram, he wrote:

Sorry guys, I don’t find this as cute or adorable, it’s disturbing!

Children should NEVER be encouraged to play with, or mimic the gifts of the Holy Spirit as they might unknowingly sin in the process, sins against the Holy Spirit, as we are all well aware, are UNFORGIVABLE!
-
Furthermore, the ‘speaking in tongues’ many Pentecostals practice today is in grave error, as it flouts what the scriptures tell us in Acts 2; where the people present could all hear their own languages, not the mumbling of jargons many churches today are notorious for.
-
In the light of this, is it fair for us to indoctrinate our children at such an early age? Is this what the children of our counterparts across the world are learning?
