Lagos Engineer Crushes Neighbour, Dumps Corpse In Canal, Flees (photos) - Crime

A computer engineer identified simply as Samuel is on the run following the gruesome death of his neighbour, Taiwo Aiyegbusi, in the Alagbado area of Lagos State.

Samuel, while driving home along Ibari Road, Alagbado around 9Road, Alagbado around 9pm on Sunday, reportedly crushed the father of five, dumped his corpse in a canal and fled the community.

Saturday PUNCH learnt that Taiwo, a mechanic in Fagba, a neighbouring community, had visited his church member, who lives a few metres away from the scene of the accident.

The 42-year-old native of Ipere Ekiti, Ekiti State, was trekking back home when Samuel lost control of the car and veered into his path, slamming him on an electric pole.

Our correspondent gathered that Samuel and three friends were returning from a party.

They were said to have taken him to a private hospital in the neighborhood from where he was referred to the Ikeja General Hospital. They reportedly dumped his corpse in a canal at Abattoir area after he gave up the ghost on the way to the hospital.

Samuel reportedly returned to the scene and removed his car.

A friend of the deceased, Segun Inuesokan, said landlords around the area kept mum on the incident until he threatened to report them to the police. He added that it was a search party organised to look for Taiwo that found his corpse in the canal.

Inuesokan said, “On Sunday when the incident happened, I was not around. When I came back on Monday morning, somebody called me that Baba Ife (Taiwo) was involved in an accident. I was very shocked. I went to meet the pastor of his church and he confirmed the incident, but said Taiwo’s corpse and his killer had not been found.

“I went to the scene of the accident and met with some landlords. I threatened to report all of them if they failed to expose the killer. The landlords knew Taiwo because he grew up in that area. In the process, a resident confided in me that the car was driven by Samuel. He is a computer engineer in Ikeja.

“While I was making more enquiries from people, I learnt a corpse was dumped at a canal in Abattoir. When we got there, we discovered it was Taiwo’s body. We removed the corpse and took it to the station before we deposited it in a mortuary in Ota.

“Samuel and Taiwo grew up and lived in the same place before he (Taiwo) relocated to Malomo Street, Alagbado. Samuel lives on Odutola Estate, Alagbado. I went to his house and asked his wife where he was; she said he was not around.

“When I asked her if she was aware that her husband killed somebody, she broke into tears. I asked his father if his son told him that he killed somebody, he said yes. I asked him what steps he took, but he was dumbfounded. He said he did not know about his son’s whereabouts.”

It was learnt that the father was arrested by the police from the Alagbado Police Station after Taiwo’s family reported the incident. He was released on Tuesday with a promise that he would provide Samuel by Friday.

The suspect had yet to be arrested as of the time of filing this report.

A police source disclosed to our correspondent that the victim was not rushed to the hospital immediately after the crash because the landlords insisted on collecting N50,000 from Samuel to replace the electric pole.

The source said, “The man did not die on the spot. Instead of the landlords to assist in rushing him to the hospital, they were requesting N50,000 from the driver to replace the pole. They were still negotiating while the victim was unconscious. The driver and his friends later took him to a private hospital from where he was referred to the Ikeja General Hospital.

“Instead of heading for the hospital, they went to dump him in a canal at Abattoir and returned to the scene of the accident. The prime suspect (Samuel) told the landlords that the victim was dead and that his corpse was in the hospital. The landlord aided him to tow his car from the scene. He took it to Jankara Market for sale and fled. The car was recovered by the police in front of the market gate.”

The elder brother of the deceased, Sunday Aiyegbusi, lamented that the Divisional Police Station, Alagbado division, was not handling the case properly. He said Samuel’s friends, who were in the car during the crash, were walking around freely without being arrested or invited by the police.

“I suspect something sinister beyond the accident. Why did he (Samuel) throw his corpse away when he knew him? Why did he take the car to Jankara? The police should carry out diligent investigation to get to the root of the matter. We have petitioned the state Commissioner of Police on the case. We want it transferred from the division,” he added.

The church member, whom the deceased visited that day, Abiodun Falaye, said Taiwo left for home around 8.30pm after they had spent about four hours together, adding that the accident scene was five minutes’ trek from his (Falaye’s) house.

He said, “He got to my place around 4pm. He said he needed N200 that he would use to take a bus to his shop on Monday. We chatted till around 8.30pm before he left. I wanted to see him off but I was expecting somebody to call me for a meeting.

“Shortly after he left, the person called me. I was going to the venue of the meeting on a motorcycle when I stumbled on the accident. I came down from the motorcycle to assist in rescuing the victim. His face had become dark and I could not recognise him.

“He was being taken to a private hospital in a tricycle when I left the spot. Some eyewitnesses said the driver also hit a woman and that she had been rushed to the hospital. The landlords were discussing how to fix the pole when I left the scene. I didn’t know whether they eventually collected money from the driver. It was the following day I knew that Taiwo was the victim. We found his corpse in the canal.”

Taiwo’s widow, Funmilayo, told Saturday PUNCH that he was sleeping when she and her children left for shop around 3pm on Sunday, adding that they did not meet him at home when they came back.

Looking pensive, Funmilayo said she became apprehensive around 10pm when she called his line several times, but was not reachable.

“At 6.30am the following day, I called his line and somebody picked the call. The person told me to come to a filling station. On getting there, the person told me that the owner of the phone was involved in an accident, but he did not tell me where he was taken to.

“I saw my husband’s sandals on the road and started crying. I was confused. I looked around for him. We eventually found his corpse in the canal. He was a man who always strove to fend for the family. We did not deserve this loss,” she added tearfully.

Taiwo’s first child, Yomi, who had just finished her secondary school, said she would miss her father sorely. She said she had requested some money from him that day and he promised to give him.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Chike Oti, who confirmed the incident, said the command had launched a manhunt for Samuel, noting that anybody found complicit in Taiwo’s death and disposal of his body would be brought to book.

Huddersfield Vs Chelsea (0 - 1) Live - European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) -

nder new management, the Blues will hope to kick off in a better fashion than they did last term by putting three points on the board

Chelsea's 2018-19 Premier League campaign begins on Saturday with an away match against Huddersfield Town , as the Maurizio Sarri era gets under way in earnest.

The Italian, who replaced his compatriot Antonio Conte at the helm of the Stamford Bridge club during the summer, has been imprinting his philosophy on the team in pre-season and there will be an air of expectation at Kirklees Stadium this weekend.

The Blues were already in action last week, falling to a 2-0 defeat against Manchester City in the Community Shield , so they will be eager to bounce back from that by securing three points in the first league game of the season.

Facebook user, Kaycee Ichie Oguejiofor shades his ex girlfriend, Amaka on her birthday who he asked out back in 2011 and she responded that she can't date a broke man.

Read his post below...

Hi Amaka,

I know you will read this, how are you enjoying your singledom, not like marriage or relationship is a big deal, but I am very happy in mine. Nothing is perfect but mines is very close to perfection.

I remember the last time I saw you, you were on way to Pastor Peter's Church for prayers. And it's not to tell why. If you don't change even your attitude even the devil will not answer your prayers.

I remember when I asked you out in 2011, and your response was "Delgado I like you, but I can't date a broke man. You said if I am lucky you will still be single when I have made money. And just then you might consider me.

Anyways I don't wish evil or bad on people ọ, far from it... In fact I have only one prayer for you, I honestly pray and money will turn to man and ask for your hand in marriage.
Let me stop here for today happy birthday.

Officials storm wedding ceremony to stop marriage of 15-year-old girl

Officials storm wedding ceremony to stop marriage of 15-year-old girl
The wedding of a 15-year-old girl to an older man was disrupted when officials stormed the wedding and put an end to it.

The wedding, between the 15-year-old girl and a 26-year-old man, which was about to hold yesterday in Mumbwa district, Zambia, was stopped when World Vision officials and various stakeholders stormed the venue.

After ending the marriage, World Vision, an organisation that protects young girls from early marriages in the country, promised to sponsor the girl to school.

However, the groom who was to marry the teenage girl complained that the organisation has put him in depression after stopping their marriage ceremony. He said it was unfair for the organisation to humiliate him in public and bring the police along as if he were a criminal.

Tiwa Savage Angry With Tekno And Ciara’s Rip Off Of Her Song ‘Before Nko’ - Celebrities

Just months after Tekno was called out by veteran group Danfo Drivers for an unauthorized use of their hit Jogodo in a remix of the same title, singer Tiwa Savage is on a warpath with Tekno for the same infringement.

Sometimes last week, American R&B diva Ciara announced a collaboration with the MMMG signed Tekno titled ‘Freak Me ’. It was apparent that being aware of the growing African music industry, Ciara tapped on one of the most known voice on the continent, Tekno. The video to the song was released almost simultaneously.

However, Tekno was conspicuously missing. In the same vein, unlike Ciara who excitedly shared the artwork for the single, Tekno refrained from doing so- which artiste-turned-Instagram blogger Tunde Ednut pointed out.

It didn’t take fans long to recognize the striking similarities between the new song ‘ Freak Me’ and a song on Tiwa Savage’s 2015 album RED titled ‘ Before Nko’.

NET can exclusively confirm that neither Tekno nor Ciara obtained clearance or permission from Tiwa Savage before infringing on her copyright, a move that has left the talented mother of one extremely aggrieved.

A member of Tiwa Savage’s camp who spoke to us exclusively on the condition of anonymity revealed the level of disappointment she has in Tekno, whom she considered a friendly colleague; not in the least because they both are Pepsi ambassadors and know each other well.

‘We were surprised that they went that route. They didn’t even just sample some strings, the beat and lyrics of the hook are basically the same. Tiwa is extremely upset because it seems like a rip off of her sweat.’

Asked if there were any enquiries from the Ubi Franklin led MMMG, the answer was negative. ‘They didn’t ask or inform us before the song was made. As a matter of fact, we reached out to them when we heard the song but they didn’t do us the courtesy of even responding.

This is not how to do things. Tekno himself is not sharing links to the song as much as his boss Ubi is. This is
wrong‘, our well-placed source said.

He added too that ‘It may not have been in Ciara’s place to know that the song belonged to someone else but the onus was on Tekno as the featured act and producer (who we believe gave the song to her anyway) to inform her.’
On our part, we contacted Ubi Franklin before filing this report. Calls were not answered and text messages sent to him were not replied at the time of publishing this.

Although Tiwa Savage (along with Don Jazzy, his brother
DPrince ) was listed as one of the composers on streaming sites such as TIDAL, she believes that does not suffice as ‘permission’.

It is the second time this year that Tekno would be accused of song theft. In May, the duo of
Mountain Black and Med Melon called him out for appropriating their early 2000’s hit Jogodo . Tekno did not deny the charge but soon after was seen with the singers in an apparent reconciliatory mode.

Last year, he was also criticized for interpolating parts of 50cent’s In Da Club in his Go sing

15 Skills And Values Employers Need From Job Seekers - Jobs/Vacancies

Most job-seekers wish they could unlock the secret formula to winning the hearts and minds of employers. What, they wonder, is that unique combination of skills and values that make employers salivate with excitement?

Every employer is looking for a specific set of skills from job-seekers that match the skills necessary to perform a particular job. But beyond these job-specific technical skills, certain skills are nearly universally sought by employers. The good news is that most job-seekers possess these skills to some extent. The better news is that job-seekers with weaknesses in these areas can improve their skills through training, professional development, or obtaining coaching/mentoring from someone who understands these skills.

The best news is that once you understand the skills and characteristics that most employer seek, you can tailor your job-search communication — your resume, cover letter, and interview language — to showcase how well your background aligns with common employer requirements.

Numerous studies have identified these critical employability skills, sometimes referred to as “soft skills.” We’ve distilled the skills from these many studies into this list of skills most frequently mentioned. We’ve also included sample verbiage describing each skill; job-seekers can adapt this verbiage to their own resumes, cover letters, and interview talking points.

So, what are these critical employability skills that employers demand of job-seekers?

1. Communications Skills (listening, verbal, written). By far, the one skill mentioned most often by employers is the ability to listen, write, and speak effectively. Successful communication is critical in business.

2. Analytical/Research Skills. Deals with your ability to assess a situation, seek multiple perspectives, gather more information if necessary, and identify key issues that need to be addressed.

3. Computer/Technical Literacy. Almost all jobs now require some basic understanding of computer hardware and software, especially word processing, spreadsheets, and email.

4. Interpersonal Abilities. The ability to relate to your co-workers, inspire others to participate, and mitigate conflict with co-workers is essential given the amount of time spent at work each day.

5. Leadership/Management Skills. While there is some debate about whether leadership is something people are born with, these skills deal with your ability to take charge and manage your co-workers.

6. Planning/Organizing. Deals with your ability to design, plan, organize, and implement projects and tasks within an allotted timeframe. Also involves goal-setting.

7. Problem-Solving/Reasoning/Creativity. Involves the ability to find solutions to problems using your creativity, reasoning, and past experiences along with the available information and resources.

8. Teamwork. Because so many jobs involve working in one or more work-groups, you must have the ability to work with others in a professional manner while attempting to achieve a common goal.

9. Honesty/Integrity/Morality. Employers probably respect personal integrity more than any other value, especially in light of the many recent corporate scandals.

10. Adaptability/Flexibility. Deals with openness to new ideas and concepts, to working independently or as part of a team, and to carrying out multiple tasks or projects.

11. Dedication/Hard-Working/Work Ethic/Tenacity. Employers seek job-seekers who love what they do and will keep at it until they solve the problem and get the job done.

12. Professionalism. Deals with acting in a responsible and fair manner in all your personal and work activities, which is seen as a sign of maturity and self-confidence; avoid being petty.

13. Self-Confidence. Look at it this way: if you don’t believe in yourself, in your unique mix of skills, education, and abilities, why should a prospective employer? Be confident in yourself and what you can offer employers.

14. Self-Motivated/Ability to Work With Little or No Supervision. While teamwork is always mentioned as an important skill, so is the ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.

15. Willingness to Learn. No matter what your age, no matter how much experience you have, you should always be willing to learn a new skill or technique. Jobs are constantly changing and evolving, and you must show an openness to grow and learn with that change.

Final Thoughts on Employability Skills and Values

Employability skills and personal values are the critical tools and traits you need to succeed in the workplace — and they are all elements that you can learn, cultivate, develop, and maintain over your lifetime. Once you have identified the sought-after skills and values and assessed the degree to which you possess, them remember to document them and market them (in your resume, cover letter, and interview answers) for job-search success.
