Linked with Manchester United by various sources in recent times, it’s been claimed that Inter Milan centre-back Milan Skriniar could cost as much as £88million, according to the Manchester Evening News.

The 23-year-old looks one of Europe’s top defenders at the moment, and would instantly improve a problem position for the Red Devils.

Jose Mourinho surely cannot go on with players like Chris Smalling and Eric Bailly as regulars in his side, so it would surely be worth splashing that much cash on Skriniar if possible.

Nigerian Customs officers reject $400k bribe during the seizure of N7.3bn worth of Tramadol from India

On Thursday, the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) seized 40-foot containers loaded with tramadol and other drugs from India worth over N7.3billion. A large number of the dangerous drugs, NCS said, were imported into the country by some scrupulous importers from India to endanger the health of the nation.

Attempt by the importers to bribe Customs officers with over $400,000 (about N150million), to effect the release of just one container out of the 40 seized, it was gathered, was rebuffed by the officers.

Addressing reporters at the Apapa command of the Service while displaying the dollars yesterday, its Comptroller-General, Col. Hameed Ali (retd), said NCS has also impounded two helicopters that can be used for nefarious activities.

The Nigerian Election Debate Group has fixed December 14, 2018 for a debate for presidential candidates of different political parties taking part in the 2019 elections.

The vice presidential candidates are billed to take their turn on January 19, 2019.


The group’s chairman, Mr. John Momoh, disclosed this at a press conference in Abuja on Thursday.

Nigerians are worried that there might be a re-emergence of the killer-beans that claimed many lives and wiped off families in the 1990s, or the situation could lead to cumulative health burdens on Nigerians and the country.
From time immemorial, cereal farmers and grain merchants have often sought ways to preserve their products, beans inclusive, with the application of red dry peppers rather than pesticides.
When a recent video showing young two men using a synthetic chemical (Sniper) came to the public knowledge, the Consumer Protection Council (CPC) and the Nigerian Agricultural Quarantine Service (NAQS), among other regulatory bodies, came up with modalities to ensure that Nigerians consume wholesome beans. But the untold story is that the unofficial method of beans preservation is the use of these poisonous chemicals. Dry fish, maize and other pest-susceptible cereals and consumables are usually sprayed with these crop protection (not grain protection) chemicals.
