54 Shi'ites members arrested over bloody protest in Abuja

54 members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria also known as Shi'ites have been arrested by the Nigeria Police Force in connection with yesterday's bloody protest in Abuja.

A statement signed by the spokeperson of the Police, DCP Frank Mba says the suspects are undergoing interrogation and will be arraigned in court as soon as possible.

Mba in his statement said the Inspector General of Police, Adamu Mohammed, condemned the incident and has issued a warning to the Shi'ites members that Enough-is-Enoug as the Force and the nation at large will not continue to suffer losses on account of reckless and lawless persons and groups in the society.

The teenage girl, named Jennelle Eliana from California lives with her pet snake in the glamorous van, which is stylishly furnished.

According to her, living inside a van, is like being on a road trip every day of her life as it enables her to move from one location to another.

I don’t have money, please release my mum - Samson Siasia begs kidnappers

Former Super Eagles coach, Samson Siasia on Friday begged the kidnappers of his 76-year-old mother, Madam Beauty Ogere to release her unconditionally.  

Ogere, 76-year-old, one Florence Donana and her 17-year-old daughter were abducted on July 15th at their apartments in their Odoni community, Sagbama Local Government Area, by unknown gunmen.

The kidnappers reportedly established contact with Siasia’s family and demanded N70m to release their victim. But Siasia, who spoke on telephone, begged the kidnappers to set his mother free unconditionally. Siasia, who is currently out of the country, said his cousin spoke with the kidnappers, who demanded the ransom.

He, however, said he was currently out of job and did not have such money to pay as ransom. He appealed to the kidnapper to set his mother free because of her old age and failing health adding that the victim might not survive the cold weather.

He said: “The kidnappers I just want to say please, I beg you. The woman is old please release her. I don’t have a job in the last three years. She is an old woman, with this cold, she may not survive it.I dont have that kind of money they are asking for,” he said.

Woman buys meat pie but what she found stuffed in it has social media users amused

A woman bought meat pie, expecting that it'll be stuffed with meat among other fillings, but what she found inside was totally different from her expectation.

The pie was stuffed with macaroni.

Odion Ighalo wins 2019 AFCON Golden Boot, See list of top scorers

Super Eagles of Nigeria striker, Odion Ighalo has won the Africa Cup of Nations Golden Boot award after finishing top of the goal-scorer standings.

The Shanghai Shenhua striker finished the tournament with five goals ahead of Riyad Mahrez, Adam Ounas, Cedric Bakambu, and Sadio Mane who all scored three goals respectively.

The 30-year-old, who was also the top scorer in Africa Cup of Nations qualifying with seven goals is the now the sixth Nigerian after Segun Odegbami, Rasheed Yekini, Julius Aghaowa, Jay-Jay Okocha & Emmanuel Emenike to win Afcon’s top scorer prize.

 Ighalo, who is expected to make a formal announcement about retiring from international football has made 16 strikes in 35 caps for Nigeria so far.

Odion Ighalo confirms his retirement from international football with Nigeria

Super Eagles striker, Odion Ighalo has confirmed his retirement from international football with Nigeria after winning the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Golden Boot last night.

The former Watford attacker finished the tournament with five goals in seven appearances to win the top scorer's prize in Egypt.

Taking to his Instagram page, he wrote:  

This is one of the most difficult career decisions I have had to take. It’s been an amazing 5 years journey, but after due consultation and extensive discussion with my family, I have decided it’s time for me to retire from the National team. 

Days after declaring himself the best player in MLS, Zlatan Ibrahimovic scores a hat trick against Carlos Vela’s team

LA Galaxy star, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has backed up his claim that he is the best in the US Major League Soccer by recording a hat trick against Carlos Vela’s team Los Angeles FC.

Zlatan scored a hat-trick to give the Galaxy a resounding 3-2 LA derby triumph over Vela’s Los Angeles FC on Friday night in what was the kind of display that suddenly made Ibrahimovic’s  proclamation that he was a “Ferrari among Fiats” in MLS a hard one to find fault with. 

Friday’s victory could be the kind of result that inspires the Galaxy and spark a run at an MLS Cup title, however, the result doesn’t change LAFC’s status as title favourites or Vela’s better statistics this season.  

According to Opta, Vela in 19 appearances for LAFC has scored 19 goal, while Zlatan netted 13 in 16 appearances. Vela also has 8 assists to Zlatan’s 3. Vela’s shot accuracy is estimated at 41.4%, Zlatan’s 36.7.  

Ibrahimovic in interviews had dismissed the comparison between him and Vela, saying after the match on Friday: “You did one mistake, you compare him to me. That was your biggest mistake.”
